An external storage-device has four major components:

* the USB cable

* the power-adapter

* the disk-drive inside the enclosure

* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

One of these components has failed.

Try a different USB cable.

Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.

Try connecting to a USB port on a different computer.

Take a "multi-meter" and measure both the voltage and amperage output from the AC adapter, and compare with the specifications on the label on the adapter.

Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and then connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if it works at all.

Purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.

Get the part-number and serial-number from the label on your disk-drive, and access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status", to see if they will replace the device, at minimal cost to you.

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge guarantee".

I cannot get Ubuntu to load onto my Vaio PCV-RZ10. I have already partitioned the HDD with 30 Gig, loaded the OS (Ubuntu) I get a (Not Support) error message. Any ideas?

The problem is your computer is not compatable to run the Ubuntu operational system, it comes up not supported. But you can go online to forums that deal with these types of problems, because there are a lot of people out there that swear by this system.

Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-18 Took out HD to reload windows as it would not load but stuck at the safe / last known good config etc. Loaded XP onto HD via an ACER laptop and reinserted it into ToughBook -...

I think your actually having issues getting it to run on the toughbook because it uses different drivers for everything from the Acer computer. If you press F8 while booting up you can choose the option "Disable automatic restart (of system errors or something)". Then when the machine boots up you should get a blue screen giving you an error code like "IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_X Error: 0x0000005f. You could try to see what the message is trying to tell you to resolve it but the error msg would likely point to the driver that its trying to load that's most likely different from the toughbook you have. I'd suggest getting an external cdrom/dvdrom and install windows from a disc onto the toughbooks hd while its in that toughbook machine.

Hi have loaded nds games onto micro sd card and it has worked in r4i card but now just say loading and when i plug it into pc it looks blank but when i try to put something onto it it says its full

It's possible that your memory card has died, or somehow gotten corrupted. If you really can't get anything to save to it, I'd try starting from scratch by formatting it, and then reloading it. Sometimes these things happen for unknown reasons. If you continue to have problems, I'd probably get a new card.

Error reading

Hi,

An UE Error Code is indicative of a "Unbalanced Error". This indicates that the drum is not spinning in a smooth rotation. It may be necessary to rearrange the load in the drum

If you tried out all things and it did not work,
then I would say you have a bad motor. The motor has a tach in it that tells the control board if the load is balanced. If the tach is bad in the motor then it will always think the load is unbalanced.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I just bought a copy of Dogz5 with Catz5 attached

Dogz and Catz 5 both seem to have alot of problems! Disk space means you dont have enough room to copy it onto your computer, I would suggest deleting some downloaded things (nothing important though, you dont want to mess up your computer, lol)

Product won't download to my computor

Mine's doing the same thing. I have tried loading it onto two different computers. I was going to format it and try just using it as a USB storage device, but i don't think it would display the pics then. I'll probably be returning it.

Sandisk memory size

Sounds like a fake chip - did it come from Ebay? Try to verify the chip's authenticity, there are some guides on ebay that show what to look for on the packaging and on the chip itself.
