Hi.

Well a new computer box is USD $1000 bellow. Second hand normally costs around USD $100 up to $400 in Mozambique. It may depend on the Brand of the car you wish to replace the computer box.

Hello, Thomas -

I am afraid you will need to have the cracked screen replaced and checked for any internal damage to the device and have that repaired, if necessary. There are probably several businesses in your area which can evaluate the damage and give you an estimate of the repair cost.

To find repair businesses in your area, I recommend you use Yelp.com (because it also offers reviews of businesses). You will want to enter the words "computer repair" in the Find box and enter the name of your location in the Near box.

Also, you can use YellowPages.com to find a computer repair business near you.

Note: You will probably have to pay an initial charge for a technician to make an evaluation.

LG LCD IC damaged

it would be cheaper to just replace the screen. The cost of the IC and equipment to install it again would cost way more and also would require to program the chip and the codes are almost impossible to get

My daughter got frustrated with something on her computer and pushed her screen back very roughly, causing the screen to appear broken. How easy or hard would it be to fix? Is it likely just the wires...

> how easy to fix?

Very easy for a qualified technician, but it will cost about $100 for a "previously-owned" replacement screen, or about $200 for a brand-new replacement screen, plus about $60 for "labour" to do the replacement. Asking $150 to $200 for "labour" is a RIP-OFF!

> BRAND NEW COMPUTER

Unless you purchased the "all-damages-including-accidental" warranty, or unless you used a credit-card that automatically offers that "all-damages" warranty, you have to pay for the repairs.

Touch pad doesn't work

Determine What's Wrong
laptop'smag-glass_10x10.gif touch pad basically provides the functionality of a mouse for a desktop PC, typically with two buttons located just below it acting as the left and right click buttons on a desktop computer. A touch pad may be damaged by excessive use or foreign substances such as water, dirt or food items.

Hit the "Windows" button on the keyboard and then use the right-left keys (or hit 'C') to open "Control Panel." From there, again use the right-left keys to get to "Mouse" and then hit "Return."

Use the right-left keys to toggle between the tabs and open each to investigate whether any boxes had been improperly clicked by accident that cause the touch pad to become unresponsive. But if any of these steps fail to remedy the problem, then the touch pad may need to be repaired or replaced.

Repairing/Replacing TouchpadA touch pad assembly cost $100 or more and that's not including replacement installation. Hiring a specialist to replace a damaged touch pad, including parts and labor, may easily cost $200. Unless the laptop in question is worth well over $1,000 and the touch pad is deemed a necessity, such repairs are rarely worth the cost.

Attempting to replace the touch pad without certain expertise in laptop assembly may be dangerous and/or destructive. Also, getting a replacement part that's not compatible with the laptop may have catastrophic results, including irreversible damage to the laptop. So just attach a mouse to it so you can work easily. Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time.

Computer box problem . The car was submerged in flood, so does the computer box. One Resistor R15 was damaged. Computer box is labeled as 37820-P1E-900 on the first line. Second line is 395-352210...

I would replace the computer box- these can be very pricy! In fact I would recomend replacing the car, you will have nothing but trouble from now on. When a vehicle is submerged, water goes into all kinds of places, and really messes up the whole electrical system. The wires will start to corode from the inside out. The reason for this, is the fact that the insulation on the wire is much like a straw with wire in it. Once the wires get wet in a situation like this, they get wet on the inside also, holding that water, and eating the wire. Every flood car that I have seen, will die a slow and painfull (wallet)death.

Put US-made 120 V Toshiba into 240 V electric current. It blew.

Did the smoke come from the computer or the power supply. Most of the power supply boxes for notebooks are multi voltage and can auto switch from 110 to 220. If the smoke came from the power supply box it may not have damaged the computer. If it came from the system, the power stage of the motherboard cooked and it will need replaced. If it is an older laptop it will probably not be worth fixing as it may cost more than half of the cost or a new one. I would try using a different power supply to test it and see if it comes on. If not, you may be looking at getting your data transferred to a new computer.
Best of luck

Cheers
