I'm not a Canon Copier Tec but I know E04's on Canons generally means heat/fuser error - ie fuser, usally fuser lamp, thermister or thermal fuse. Have fuser replaced.

Have it looked at, due to it requiring electrical knowledge, ie test heater lamp(open), thermal fuse(open), thermister(check for toner built up on face) with the user removed from printer (fuser=hot bit that paper goes threw, just before where paper exits to go to sorter) or just replace assem.

There maybe a reset required, on some canon models after problem has been fixed.
