Pilot lights 04-05-08, I moved into a rental house that has a gas Magic Chef range/oven model #3442XRW. We have never had a gas stove before, and do not know how to light the pilot lights on the stove or in the oven, and we are carving meat loaf and brownies, after all this time without being able to bake. We are lighting burners on the stove top with matches as we need to, but cannot find where to light the oven, let alone the pilot lights for oven or top.

Same situation...rental home with a Magic Chef.

The back is plugged in, and the stove light bulb comes on, so I know it's getting electricity.

The breakers are all on...so now what?

You need to plug the oven in; pull it out and you should locate the pwr cord or you may already have it plugged in and have a breaker turned off or a gfi tripped

I have Magic Chef gas oven. Model CPR1100ADW. The pilot light don't light up nor does it come on. I don't smell gas coming from it. I can't figure what it is. Can you help me.

The oven probably has an igniter to light the pilot, and when not in use, shuts the gas off. Unplug the stove to replace the igniter. Enter your stove info and "how to replace oven igniter" on you tube for videos and detailed instructions.

I have an early 70's Magic Chef series VI oven/stove. The stove works fine. The oven takes about 30 minutes to light. When oven knob is turned pilot works fine. There is no gas odor before the oven lights.

My model is a UA119A-2W and I cannot find a place to light the oven pilot. Nor can I find a copy of the owner's manual anywhere online. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I cant find the stove top pilot

Electric Ignition (sparking clicking noise when control knob is turned to "light" setting) do not have pilots. The spark ignites the gas.

Magic chef oven pilot light out

Hi, If the oven has a standing pilot too, Open the bottom door and locate the main burner. Follow the burner toward the rear of the oven and there will be a flame switch attatched to the burner. Hold the flame near the flame switch and the gas should ignite.
Some model do not have a standing pilot in the oven. Please get me your model number off the label located around the opening of the lower door so I can look this up and instruct you better.

We smell gas and our landlord said might be pilot light?? been using the stove all week we just moved in

Hi, Does this oven have electronic ignition?
If the pilot light is out, the burners will not light when you turn it on.
If this does have a pilot light, pop the top up and ight the pilot with a lighter or match. The pilot should be between the 2 burners.
please let me know if I can assist you further.

I have a 1948 Magic chef gas oven.Model # 8620. The gas was turned off at my home and the pilot light on the oven went out. The gas is now on and I need to relight the pilot light. I am not sure on the ove...

You did say 1948, as in 60 year old range?
Well, gas ranges did not have fancy safety valves or things like that back then. Most likely when you turn on the gas, a small amount of gas begins escaping at the pilot orifice. Then use a long handled lighter to put a flame there. Pilot should light right away.
