Press the right-arrow key to tell the calculator you're done with the exponent. Otherwise the calculator thinks you're typing in a very complicated exponent.

I have a casio fx-991MS, how do i make a superscript of a number using the calculator

I assume you want an exponent. On this calculator you use the ^ key.

For example, enter 3, enter ^, enter 3, = should give you 27.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck.

Where is the exp button in Casio FX570ES Scientific Calculator? I can't find it. Please help me!

If you want to enter an exponent of ten, use the x10-superscript-x button in the center of the bottom row.
If you want to raise a number to another number, use the x-superscript-box button just below the big round cursor pad.
If you want to raise ten to a number, use SHIFT log.
If you want to raise e to a number, use SHIFT ln.

For "x to the y power" use the x-superscript-box key just below and right of the big round cursor pad. For "10 to the x power" use SHIFT [10^x] just to its right (marked "log"). To enter an exponent of 10 use "*10^x" on the bottom row between the "." and "Ans" keys.

I have a student who just got a new calculator (TI-84). when you press the exponent button (x2) or the carrot button the numbers following the exponent stay superscripted. How do I adjust it so she can...

There's nothing wrong, the calculator just has the newest version of the operating system. To tell the calculator you're finished entering the exponent, simply press the right-arrow. If you don't want the new MathPrint mode, press MODE, press up-arrow to get to the second page, keep pressing up-arrow to get to the top line, highlight CLASSIC, press ENTER, then press 2ND [QUIT]. Now the calculator will display as the older operating system did.

The new MathPrint mode shows exponents, roots, fractions, and other things more like they appear in textbooks.

How do you raise to a power on a Sharp el-738 business calculato?

I don't know about this specific calculator, but there is probably a button on your calculator that has a "y" with an "x" as a superscript (exponent). Or is could be reversed. But you wanted 2^8, you would push the 2 first, then the exponent button, then the 8, and there's your answer.

Good luck.

Decimals in the exponents for TI-30Xa

Hi,
You have a key labeled [Y to the x], use it for all the powers or roots that do not have a dedicated key or key sequence. Let the key be [^]

Ex: 13.675 to the power 1.33 is entered as 13.675 [^] (1.33) [=].
The result is 32.41778634
Ex: (-64)[^](2/3) [=] gives 16 as result. The (-) is the change sign key
Ex: (2.87655)^(-6.778) is entered as 2.87655 [^] ( (-) 6.778 ) [=] 0.0007758
The (-) is the change sign (or the negative of), not the regular minus. When you have a negative exponent or a complicated exponent, it is safer to enclose the whole exponent inside parentheses.

Hope it helps.
