There are two ways to get there,...

1. click on the "Start" button,

There should be an option that says "Printers and Faxes", click on it.

This should pull up a window that has your printer listed, click ONCE on your printer (to highlight it) and on the left hand side of the window under the heading "Printer Tasks" there is an option called "select printing preferences", click on it.

This should bring up another window with multiple tabs at the top. Click on the "Services" tab, then click on the "Service This Device" button. Another window will open with the following options, "Calibrate the Device", "Clean the Printer Cartridges", and "Print Test Page".

Just click on the "Calibrate the Device" button and follow the prompts.

2. The other way to get get there is to try and print something. When the window opens to allow you to change the quantity and such, click on the "Preferences" button. It should be near the top next on the right, next to the place where you choose your printer. Clicking this button will open the window with the multiple tabs that I mentioned earlier. You'll then click on the "Services" tab, then the "service this device" button, followed by the "calibrate the device" button.

Hope this helps! :)

My Lexmark Z2320 only printing pink.... 3/4 full black cartridge, and 1/2 full color cartridge. Why only printing pink....

If your printer is only printing one color, it is a clear sign that the printer is in need of a head cleaning, and possibly an alignment. The instructions to do so are as follows according to the Lexmark website:

  1. Load plain paper.
  2. Then do one of the following:
    - in Windows Vista, click pattlnk_852008_1527-vista-start-button.gif.
    - in Windows XP and earlier, click Start.
  3. Click All Programs or Programs, and then select the printer program folder from the list.
  4. From the printer folder, click Maintenance - Align Cartridges.
  5. Click Print.
  6. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to finish

  1. Load plain paper.
  2. Do one of the following:
    - in Windows Vista, click pattlnk_852008_1536-vista-start-button.gif.
    - un Windows XP and earlier, click Start.
  3. Click All Programs or Programs, and then select the printer program folder from the list.
  4. From the printer folder, click Maintenance - Clean Cartridges.
  5. Click Print. A page prints, forcing ink through the print cartridge nozzles to clean them.
  6. Print the document again to verify that the print quality has improved.
Complete both of these processes, and your printer should begin printing normally again.

HP6988 printer skips lines and only prints bottom half of black lines. Installed new black cartridge, printed test page. Still no change.

Most deskjets include a maintenance section. Open this printer in PRINTERS on Control Panel (assuming Windows). right click on the printer and select properties. You will have to look for the maintenance section. There you should find an option to "clean heads". You may need to do this several times if never done before. After each cleaning, print a test pattern. Hope this helps.

Magenta at the wrong place.

aligning an inkjet printer after putting in a color or B&W Ink cartridge is a common task.

In the windows Start Menu of Windows 7, open up the printers and devices folder and right click on the hplj2605dn printer

Click on 'properties' tab and it will give you a selection for aligning print heads somewhere in there.

Many printers have this problem with alignment of the heads everytime you change a print cartridge.
