Black mark appears across pictures. I've looked inside, adn the shutter doesn't fully retract. I've checked number of shots, 23000. Done a reset, still doesn't fix the problem. Am on holiday tour, so can't send it in adn of course very urgent!

About all you can try is to get a can of compressed air from Walmart ($4) and spray it into the lens assembly from the front. The shutter may have a bit of dust, dirt, or lint causing it to catch. If you get lucky, you'll dislodge it and be good to go.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Our camera seems to be okay but when i'm attempting to get picture, i can't see any image in LCD, is it the lens?

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. If that doesn't help, try taking a picture with the screen black. Is the picture also black? If so, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Remove the lens and fire off a few shots while looking inside. Check to see if the mirror flips up out of the way and that the shutter opens exposing the sensor.

Black spots in the dram ricoh 450

Are the black spots on all copies. if they are only on teh copies done from teh glass scan then it could be dirt on the g;*** plate. if from all copies it is the dev or drum area.. are the dots moving across the page in the same place if you do lots of copies this means it is the drum that is damaged.. if they are blotchy marks it could be toner build up.. if the marks are in a line across the page open up the side door adn look at the hot roller in the fuser the coating could be damaged and the roller need replacing..GOOD luck A

This would need to be repaired if the lens is stuck so is the shutter. I would take it in and have it looked at. there is no other resetting then what you already have done ot the unit.

Maybe the shutter got wet and sticky. You can try look into the lens then press shutter button to take picture. If you don’t see the movement inside the hole, the shutter doesn’t open, it will take black picture.

Camera seems to operate, won't record photos

there are two possible causes for the problem. 1). a bad CCD or 2) shutter not working. in both the cases you have to contact pro. repairer to fix the problem.
