Will they work in Australia where we have 240 volts?

if south africa power supply is 240 volts then yes -but -- you will have to go to the onscreen menu and change the setting from PAL to what ever is used in south africa
if the voltage is not 240 volts then leave the set behind

all electrical equipment imported into Australia have to conform to Australian electrical regulations and that includes insulation properties ,voltage
Basically if it is not on the market then it is not 240 volts so if you are considering buying overseas then it is not advisable as it will be the wrong voltage and will fall short in meeting the strict regulations for electrical equipment

You need a stepdown transformer from 240 volts to 110 volts AC.
Make sure you get one that has the required wattage you require.

No you cannot plug it directly into 240 volts, you will damage your speakers.

You need to get a step down transformer 240 volts down to 115 volts. These are available from Jaycar. Make sure you select a unit with a wattage equal to or greater to the wattage rquirements of the speaker system otherwise you will overload the transformer and it will fail.

Most laptop can be used in any country.
Check the laptop's power adapter mains input voltage, it is on a label on the bottom of the adapter.
If the input voltage is 100 to 240 volts then it will work in Australia, you may need an mains adapter to connect to Australian 3 pin mains power point or purchase the mains cable that fits the Australian 3 pin mains power point.

the specs will be on the decal on the back of the unit
ghosting is an antenna problem
one thing to be aware of
buy it overseas and the warranty will be no good here

USA mains equipment operate on 110 volts. Unless the AOC monitor can operate on multi voltages ie 110 to 240 volts, when you connect 110 voltage equipment into 240 volts mains in Australia you most likely will damage the AOC monitor.
To operate equipment that has been designed for 110 volts, you need to purchase a step down transformer from 240 to 110 volts that has suitable wattage rating for the AOC monitor.

chances are the power inverter has gone,(it takes 12 volts upto 240)
easy to check,use a lightbulb and the two wires to check power output.BE CAREFULL NOT TO TOUCH THE WIRES.
