I purchased a Meade DS-90AT at a garage sale but it is missing the battery pack (the holder for 10 AA batteries). I called Meade and learned it is no longer available. Any suggestions as to what I can use instead...especially what type of adapter I need to plug into the 12V jack on the control panel of the scope?

The original battery pack is nothing but 2 AA batteries held together with a plastic holder, you can use regular AA rechargeable batteries and save some money. I had a similar camera with the original battery pack held together with some plastic holder, I simply substituted that battery pack with 2 regular rechargeable common batteries and camera works the same.

Why not buy a 12 volt power pack instead-- and the proper 12 volt cable from Meade. http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

Anyway-- Radio Shack has just about any type of battery holder you may need.

That's because it is probably a 1.25 inch focuser. However this adapter will allow you to use 2 inch eyepieces-

OR replace your entire focuser assembly with a 2 inch focuser.

I don't understand? Is one of the TWO motors NOT working? Do you have FRESH batteries?

It's a 12 volt power system, get the correct cigarette lighter style power plug from Meade -- it is center positive-- and use a 12 volt power pack like this one, or a car starter battery pack from Wal Mart. Make sure it has a cigarette style female plug.

I found a supplier that has the holder for $1.92, but the shipping is $14.99 - - -so, there's a question of how bad do you want the battery holder ?
