The printer does not print anything with black ink. Photo ink is good as well as other colors. I have cleaned the cartridges and changed the black ink twice now. Please advise!

Cannot make the printer work after I changed the ink cartridges?

You can validate the HP60 ink cartridge's electrical health by running the 'Tap 41' diagnostics test (this procedure is specific to the F2480 model). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TAP 41 video procedure at the following link on how to activate and read the service test: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=440

1. While holding the Power button, press Cancel (X) button 4 times, then press the Color Copy button once.
2. Release the Power button.
3. The 'Tap 41' diagnostic test print should print.

--- Providing the color cartridge is partially functioning the Tap 41 diagnostic test print will be printed (this is a forced service print test which is mainly used for the evaluation of ink cartridge electrical health). A good HP 60/60XL color cartridge should display 1248 good nozzles, while a good HP 60/60XL black ink cartridge should show 336 good nozzles. If the results yield anything different then the ink cartridge is likely damaged and will need to be replaced. Refer to video on how to read the printout. http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=434

---- If the printer attempts to print the diagnostic test pattern (1 page) then the printer is generally considered operational and functional, if nothing is printed, but the printer attempts to print the pattern, then the tri-color ink cartridge is either empty, clogged or severely electrically damaged (black ink cartridge is not used). You can remove the tri-color cartridge, reactivate the tap 41 test and the printer will print the diagnostic test print in black ink.

For information on North American ink refill services at a major retailer near you (should you wish to save ~50% on ink costs), general printing problem resolutions or advanced HP printer diagnosis procedures (advanced cartridge diagnostic tests/cartridge error bypass & printer reset methods, etc.), please visit Inkjet411: http://www.inkjet411.com

The ink cartridges need to be replaced very often epson 810

You can try to change your print quality to a lower setting. This saves a lot on toner. If you are not printing for anything super important you can set some printers to "fast draft" or "draft" quality and that saves a ton. I personally dont usually need to print anything of high quality so I went to my local "Everything" store(not sure if I should use company names) and bought an HP, the cheapest color printer they had which was $30.00 The black and color cartridges together cost about the same as the printer. But I use the lowest setting which is the "fast draft" setting and set it to print in black ink only, and only change that when I NEED something in color and it uses very little and prints very fast.

Black won't print. Changed all ink cartridges,

It may need a new purge assembly, if it doesn't clean both sides properly either color or black will quit. You might try a new printhead first, QY6-0064-000 around $40.00

I might have an idea why this is happening....The print cartridges might need cleaning...
Follow the steps below to do this....

Step one: Remove the black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge

NOTE:
The black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge is in the right side of the carriage. -Lower the cover of the product.
-If the print cartridge status light flashes, proceed to Step two: Replace the print cartridge.
If the print cartridge status light is off, proceed to Step three: Manually clean the print cartridge.
Step two: Replace the black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge and remove the tri-color print cartridge
- Remove plastic tape from new ink carttridge CAUTION:
Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts. Touching these parts will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections. Do not remove the copper electrical contacts.

NOTE:
The tri-color print cartridge is in the left side of the carriage.
-Lower the cover of the product. -If the print cartridge status light stops flashing, proceed to Step three: Manually clean the print cartridge.
If the print cartridge status light still flashes, replace the tri-color print cartridge. If the issue continues, service the product.

Step three: Manually clean the print cartridge
1. Gather the following items to clean the print cartridge and carriage:
o Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available. Tap water can contain contaminants that damage the cartridge.
o Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the cartridges (coffee filters work well).
o Sheets of paper or a paper towel to rest the cartridges on during cleaning.
2. Open the product cover, and wait until the carriage stops moving.
3. Remove the print cartridge, and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.

NOTE:
Clean the contacts quickly so that the print cartridge is not outside of the product for more than 30 minutes. If the cartridge is outside of the product for too long, the ink can dry and clog the nozzles.
4. Unplug the product.
5. Dip a swab in the clean water, and then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture. The swab should be only slightly damp.
6. Clean the print cartridge contacts. Do not touch the nozzles.
7. Clean the contacts in the carriage, inside the product.8. Either let the print cartridge sit for ten minutes to allow the cleaned area to dry, or use a new swab to dry it.
9. Reinstall the print cartridge.
10. Plug the product back in.
11. Close the product cover.

Good Luck!
If there is anything more I can do for you please let me know if not and the problem is solved please rate it, Thanks, JCE

Very Faint Printouts

I find the best way to clean the heads is buy some cleaning cartridges as they have cleaning fluid in them and use them to clean it will take about 10 or more times to clean the heads then put the color ones back in and try again.
Just keep putting it on clean the head don't do a print out till at lest you have cleaned 10 or more times.

How to change black color inkonHp2175all in one

Supported HP ink cartridge part numbers The HP PSC 2100, 2170, and 2200 all-in-one series products use the ink cartridges listed in the table below. The HP 58 tri-color photo ink cartridge replaces the black ink cartridge for six-ink photo printing. Ink cartridges Part number HP 56 black ink cartridge (19 ml) C6656A HP 57 tri-color ink cartridge (17 ml) C6657A HP 58 tri-color photo cartridge* (17 ml) C6658A HP 27 low capacity black ink cartridge (10 ml) C8727A HP 28 low capacity tri-color ink cartridge (8 ml) C8728A * Replaces the black ink cartridge for six ink photo printing and includes cartridge holder. Replacing the ink cartridges The power must be turned ON to the all-in-one or the print carriage will not come to the center.
  1. Locate and raise the print cartridge access door on the front of the unit, just above the output tray. The print cartridge carriage will move into the middle of the access area. Figure 1: Raising the front access door and the ink cartridge latches c00224418.jpg
  2. Press down lightly on the top of the ink cartridge latch of the ink cartridge to be replaced and then pull the lower section of the latch toward you to unlatch the ink cartridge.
  3. Grasping the sides of the ink cartridge, pull the cartridge toward you to remove it as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2: Removing the cartridge after raising the latch c00224419.jpg
  4. Remove the replacement cartridge from its packaging, and touching only the black plastic, gently remove any tape covering the nozzles. Do not touch the gold-colored contacts. Figure 3: Removing the protective tape c00224420.jpg
  5. Holding the ink cartridge with the printed label up, slide the cartridges one at a time into the print carriage as shown in Figure 4. The black ink cartridge (HP 56 or HP 27) goes on the right side (with the gray latch) and the tri-color cartridge (HP 57 or HP 28) goes on the left side (with the blue latch). If the optional photo cartridge (HP 58) is installed for six-ink photo printing, it is installed in place of the black ink cartridge. Figure 4: Inserting the cartridge c00224421.jpg
  6. Place your hand on the latch as shown in Figure 5, with the thumb pulling the end of the latch toward you. While holding the end of the latch out, press down on the top of the latch until it stops and then release the lower portion of the latch with your thumb so that it catches under the tabs. Do not force the latches into place or damage to the unit might occur. Close the all-in-one after latching the ink cartridges in place. Figure 5: Latching the ink cartridges in place c00224422.jpg
  7. Close the print cartridge access door.
  8. A message will appear in the front panel display requesting that the ink cartridges be aligned. Press ENTER on the front panel to start the cartridge alignment. Two pages will print. Following the instructions printed on the second page, place the first page on the scanner glass in the lower-right corner and then press ENTER to finish aligning the cartridges. Remove the page from the scanner glass when complete.
Storing the option photo printing cartridge while not in use The optional photo print cartridge (HP 58) that may be purchased separately for six-ink photo printing includes an ink cartridge protector. The protector is designed to keep the photo cartridge from drying out when it is not in use and for holding and protecting the black cartridge when the photo cartridge is in use.
  • To insert a cartridge into the protector, slide it into the protector at a slight angle until it snaps in place.
  • To remove a cartridge from the protector, push down and back on the top of the protector to release the cartridge and then slide the cartridge out of the protector.
Figure 6: Inserting and removing ink cartridges from the ink cartridge protector c00224423.jpg Fixing error messages that appear after changing a cartridge After inserting the cartridge, one of the following messages appears:
  • Check the black (or color) cartridge
  • Replace the black (or color) cartridge
  • The wrong black (or color) cartridge is installed
These messages indicate that the ink cartridge is not making good electrical contact, is bad, or is the wrong cartridge. Complete the following steps to diagnose and correct the condition:
  1. Open the front of the unit to access the print cartridges (as shown in Figure 1).
  2. Remove the ink cartridge indicated in the message and inspect it.
  3. Verify that it is the correct part number and if it is, reinsert it.
  4. Close the lid to see if the problem is corrected.
  5. If the message is still displayed after a few seconds, remove the ink cartridge again.
  6. Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit.
  7. Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridge with a soft clean cloth, slightly dampened (not wet) with clean water. Each contact is very small and shaped like a rounded square. Figure 7: Cleaning the cartridge contacts c00224424.jpg
  8. Inside the HP all-in-one product, clean the contacts in the print carriage (the cartridge holder) with a clean cotton swab slightly dampened with clean water. Allow them to dry for five minutes before reinserting the cartridge(s) and turning on the printer. Figure 8: Contacts to be cleaned c00224425.jpg
  9. If the problem remains, replace the ink cartridge.
  10. If the problem still exists after trying all of the steps above, contact HP for assistance.

Dell Photo All in One Printer 964

Try printing a windows test page from the driver software, START-SETTINGS_PRINTERS-DELL964- properties,,etc. If the test page prints with color then I believe that your driver is set to print in greyscale. If you can't find that option in the driver you might try to re-install the driver from your original cd.
