First remove the top cap under your handle.
Then, remove the three screws under the handle.
remove the rubber cover on the switch
undo the clamps on the side of the unit
lift off the chrome cover with the cord on it by the handle itself.

When you have the access there, change the filter inside the upper chamber as well.

Good luck

Filter queen majestic power head not working, main vacuum working but no power in head when plugged in. any suggestions as to what may be the cause for this to happen.

Is there power at the head, have you checked with a volt meter, most likely if not then the cord to the head is defective.

How do I change the power cord on my Filter Queen vacuum cleaner?

First, remove the top filter cap. quarter turn.
Remove the three screws from under said cap.
The rubber switch cover will come off of the on/off switch pedal there. pull off and set aside.
undo the two clamps and remove the motor (chrome) section from the base.
give the handle a tug and the chrome cap should now come off and allow you access to the wiring and motor/switch.

optional side note: at this point you may want to replace the sponge filter around the motor too.

Remove the cord from the unit and rewire to the same spots the old cord comes out of.
reverse the instructions to put the machine back together.

I got a used filter queen majestic vacuum at a yard sale and want to fix it up and start with new filters where do i get the filters and how do i change them

Hello,

Well you bought a really great vacuum cleaner. The Filter Queen's are extremely durable and very well made vacuums. They sell brand new for over $2500, so picking one up at a yard sale was a great find by you.

There are several different filters on this model that need to be replaced. Here's a link to a 6 month supply kit that we sell, which contains all the filters needed for a 6 month period:

The only other part that you should be replaced on a regular basis is the belt (only if the vacuum has a motorized power nozzle for cleaning carpets). The belt should be changed every 6 months or so. Even if it doesn't break, these belts will stretch out and not work as well as a new belt would. Here's a link to the belt that will fit your Filter Queen Majestic:

Here's a link to the owner’s manual for a newer Majestic model. This is the only one that is available online. Even though it's a newer model, the maintenance and care will be exactly the same for your model.

I really hope this was the information that you needed. If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to ask them by using the comment box here on the Fixya repair page.

If this did help you, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful, or leave some feedback for me. This is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I need a wiring diagram & detailed specifications for my Filter Queen Majestic limited edition.

Open the vac by removing 3 screws below the handle area and the long screw at the bottom of the cone. If the motor has been removed, you will have 2 motor leads , 2 power head socket leads, and 2 switch leads as well as the cord. Do not twist your wires first when pairing, twist with the wire nut ony and tape afterword as there is metal nearby in the housing area
1 side of the cord goes to the switch only. The opposite side of the switch will go to 1 of each of the motor and Socket. The remaining motor and socket leads pair with the remaining cord lead.
While you are in there change the round filter dic covering the front of the motor and you could change the foam/ felt wrap around the inside of the housing.
There is a insulating disc at the top of the motor to prevent shock between motor and screen. Do not remove it.

I was given a filter queen majestic limited edition but have no manual, can you help

This is a very straight forward good quality vac, with excellent filtration.
The cannister has two large clamps to release the motor from the dust chamber. Depending onb the age you may have an LED which comes on when it is time to empty the vac. The cleanest way to empty is to leave the paper cone over the dirt and carefully tip all into a garbage bag sitting on the floor.
You should replace the paper cone with a genuine fresh one each time you empty the container. In addition there is a paper disc inside the motor housing which you will access by removing the flat screw at the bottom of the plastic grille cone.
