Electrolux 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Double Oven Dual Fuel Convection Range - White Logo
Mary Kay Ricks Posted on Nov 15, 2010

When I try to use the self-clean program, I remove the racks but then the cleaning cycle won't start and the "remove racks" indicator is flashing. There is a vertical metal piece in the back of the oven that I can't remove. Is this why it won't work?

Hi,
I just did the self clean function today. They need you to remove the rack supports from each side of the oven cavity. Simply pull up on them to remove. When I did this the message was not displayed and the slef clean function started. Hope that helps.

Electrolux Icon Oven self cleaning won't start- the lock button keeps flashing. Yes, the racks and rack holders are removed.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are having trouble with your Electrolux Icon oven, model# E30SO75ESS, and running the self-clean cycle. I see that the lock button keeps flashing and that you have the racks and rack holders out. I suggest following the steps below to run your self-clean cycle:

    1) Place the rack holders and the racks in your oven.

    2) Reset your appliance, by shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes.

    3) Restore power.

    4) Reset the clock, by pressing the "Clock" button then press the number "2". Enter in the time of day, and then press the "Clock" button again.

    5) Start the self-clean cycle with the racks in your range. This is to make your oven recognize that the racks are in the oven.

    6) Take the racks and rack holders out and start the self-clean cycle again.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your oven status has changed successfully.

Electrolux icon duel fuel range racks red light wont stop flashing even though I removed all racks, so oven will not start self clean cycle

Good Morning Andrea,

I see that you are having trouble with your Electrolux range, model# E30DF74GPS, and getting it to go into the self-clean cycle. I would suggest giving it a hard reset. First make sure the racks are in. Next, cut the power at the circuit breaker and leave it off for 2-3 minutes. After the time has elapsed cut the power back on. Start the self-clean cycle with the racks inside the oven. We're trying to get the oven to recognize the racks are inside. Once it states the racks are in, cancel out and take the racks out. Now, with the racks out start the self-clean cycle again. If you are still receiving the red light blinking, I suggest contacting the manufacturer or your local authorized technician. Hope this has been helpful.

-Best Regards-

The self-clean function won't work. I followed the instructions in the manual exactly....but no luck. I pushed in the "clean" button, door locked light comes on. Then I turn the...

From the manual: The main oven and companion oven are equipped with heavy-duty, porcelain - coated racks which are designed to remain in the oven during the self-clean cycle.
So they have nothing to do with your problem. From what you describe it appears that as the thermostat button is turned it either simply powers down the oven because the command wire for the clean cycle is disconnected or it trips some kind of overheat safety that is functioning incorrectly.
The oven will have to be extracted from its place, its back removed to access the thermostat button (and its wirings) and the control board which will have to be tested. This isn't the simplest of jobs so if you have never done something like this before then you will have to call a pro. The parts won't cost much (less than $100) but the labor will so shop for the most affordable one.

Lost Manual and would like instruction on how to set for self clean cycle?

Make sure you have everything out of the oven, including the oven racks.

1. Press SELF CLEAN.
2. Press the TEMP/TIME "+" or "-" arrow pads to enter the desired self-clean cycle.
3. Press START.
The oven door will automatically lock. The DOOR LOCKED and CLEAN indicator lights will be
displayed.
4. When the self-clean cycle is complete and the oven cools, the DOOR LOCKED and CLEAN
indicator lights will turn off.
5. When the oven is completely cooled, remove ash with a damp cloth.

Recommended times are 2 hours 30 minutes for light soil and 4 hours 30 minutes for heavy soil.

If your oven has a HI and LO self clean time, HI is 4 hours 30 minutes and LO is 3 hours 30 minutes.

It is also recommended that you remove anything plastic from the top of the stove during cleaning.

How to use self clean for oven

Turn off the oven light and remove all pans and racks from the oven. Clean the oven and door frames with a non-abrasive cleaner. Do not clean the door gasket. Remove any excess grease or debris from the oven bottom.

Close the door and move the lock lever to the right. The "Lock" indicator will light. Press the "Clean" pad, then press the up or down arrows on the "Set" pad to adjust the cleaning time: two hours for light soil, three hours for medium soil and four hours for heavy soil.

Cancel self-cleaning after it has started by pressing "Cancel."

Wait one hour after the cleaning cycle has ended for the "Lock" indicator to go out. Unlock the door.

Clean the oven racks with soapy water and a scouring pad and put them back in the oven.

I need direction on how to start the clean cycle on my jenn air

CLEAN PAD
Use to set a self-clean cycle or a delayed
self-clean cycle. One press of the Clean
pad sets up an immediate clean cycle. A
second press of the Clean pad sets up a
delayed clean cycle.
• Clean oven
frame, door
frame (area
outside of gasket)
and
around the
opening in the door gasket with a nonabrasive
cleaner such as Bon Ami*. These
areas are not exposed to cleaning temperatures.
• Remove air grille.
• Remove oven racks. If racks are left in
during a clean cycle, it may impair function
and they will discolor. Turn off the
oven light and close door.
* Brand names for cleaning products are
registered trademarks of the respective
manufacturers.
TO SET FOR IMMEDIATE START:
1. Press Clean pad once.
2. Press the Auto Set pad for 3 hours of
cleaning time, press again for 4 hours
and again if 2 hours of clean time are
desired.
3. CLEANING and LOC plus the clean
time will appear in the display.
4. When the clean cycle is complete,
CLEANED will be displayed. LOC will
remain on until the oven has cooled
(approx. 1 hour).
5. When the oven is cool, LOC will no
longer be displayed and the door may be
opened.
6. Wipe out the oven interior with a damp
cloth. If soil remains it indicates the
cycle was not long enough.

TO CANCEL SELF-CLEAN:
1. Press Cancel pad.
2. If LOC is NOT displayed, open oven
door. If LOC is displayed, allow oven to
cool.

Electrolux Icon Oven won't self clean - "Remove Racks" displayed

I was getting the remove rack error until I finally figured out what it wanted me to remove. When you say you removed the rack supports, do you mean just the sliding parts or the whole side metal rack support? At first I thought they were bolted in, but I read somewhere that they come out, too. Upon further investigation, I found the rack supports just slide into the side walls at 4 points. I had to use a little force to pull them out, but they came out and my oven is self-cleaning as I write this. I just thought I would share in case you or others haven't figured it out yet. Now I will just have to see how hard it is to get them back in...
