My 46W500 Hitachi HDTv is blinking. The picture looks fine, but after about 10-15 seconds, on any given channel, the screen begins to blink. The blinking has a color pinkish tint. Can anyone help me out on why this is happening? Thanks!

Hitachi tv won't turn on, only flashing orange and blue light

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy.

Picture blinks in and out every few seconds

The lines in the picture and the blinking makes me think maybe the digital / logic board is going bad.. you will need a tech to resolve this and it will be expensive.. In time you will loss the picture altogether as the board will get worse.

Hitachi 55VG825 rear proj television blinking light and screen doesn't light up

Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...

Picture is unwatchable

I have not seen this happen in a long time. Ok first of all that is a sign of poor High voltage regulation, which is not user serviceable. I suggest you find one of the shops on Fixya that can fix this for you, or you can take it to a shop near you.

Won't turn off

Go to the panel (on the tv set), hit magic focus on there....then hold power button for several seconds long. It should go off and fix your problem.

The lights on but no-one's home - no picture on TV

Sounds like you have a short somewhere, probably the Horizontal Output Transistor. If there is a fault the led you mentioned probably should be blinking. You probably are going to need a tech to look at this as it is a very complicated process of elimination.

My TV screen has no picture

If the light goes out you definitely have a short somewhere. If it blinks you have a fault, probably in the High Voltage circuit. Most common problem is a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor. Unless you are an experienced technician you probably need to have a reputable repair facility look at this one. Most will give you an estimate for free or for a small fee which will be deducted if you decide to have them fix it.
