Make sure your gps is fully charged ...


With the unit Off......

connect your GPS to your computer using the USB cable... (its the same USB cable most cameras use to connect to computers )

your computer will detect new hardware (usb) minimise the pop up box

next

go to www.MyGarmin.com this site will also detect your model unit and let you unlock your Map as soon as you Register..

Garmin will then tell you to download WebUpDater utility to transfer mapping files

*** FYI*** ALL GARMINS HAVE A SECURITY LOCATION...this is a location where you first set up your gps and if you forget the pin number if you lock the unit you must return to the security location to unlock or send your unit to garmin with your receipt of ownership

Will not register on garmin site
If your unit is not registering on the Garmin website, then the unit is probably already registered. If its already registered, the Garmin website won't recognize it. If you bought it used, you need to call the person who you bought the unit from and tell them to delete their registration so that you can re-register under your name. If you bought it new, call Garmin customer service at 1-800-800-1012 and have them clear the registration. They will require proof of purchase. New Units sometimes get purchased registered and then returned. Some places will place the merchandise back on the shelf after verifying everything is still there.

Do I have to register my Garmin and how
you do not have to but it is good for warranty purposes as well as updates. connect the 1450 to your computer using the provided USB data cable and then go to www.garmin.com and click register on the home page, you will have to create a garmin account.

Registering the new garmin nuvi 1450 is quite simple. What you need to do is to connect the garmin nuvi 1450 to a computer that has internet on it. Then you go to www.garmin.com then you select the support link, https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/marketing/register.htm then a list will pop up, select product registration, it will prompt you to create a user name and password, then it will ask for some information about the garmin you are trying to register.Then it willbe registered.

  • To register your garmin nuvi connect it to your computer with the mini USB lead

Hello,

The LMT versions are pre activated so all you need to do is go to www.garmin.com navigate to the my dashboard tab. there you will find a field to login or create a new account. From there it is a step by step process to getting it registered. you will need you USB cable or the unit serial number from the box bottom of the unit.
