Hi, My main lens is Tamron 18-250mm on Canon T1i camera and it's three years old and worked fine till today . Today ,I discovered that above 100mm it vibrates and isn't locks in autofocus while below 100mm it works fine as before. I cleaned the glass , the contacts on both sides with contacts cleaning spray and with rubber eraser but in vain. I have Tamron 90mm macro and Tamron 11-18mm as well. I installed them and they works fine. Please advice, Yigal Shalhevet

SOURCE: will not autofocus

Hey shutterbug72,
According to the manufacturer the first thing you should try is cleaning the lens contacts with an eraser. If that doesn't work you could try removing the battery and reinserting it to reset the camera. It seems to me that if there was a compatibility issue going on you should have seen that from the start. As far as what lens you should buy both Tamron and Canon make very good lenses, but with Canon lenses you shouldn't ever have compatibility issues. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Try gently cleaning the electronic contacts on the lens's mount with an eraser. This will remove any mild oxidation on the contacts. If this doesn't resolve the problem, then contact Tamron and ask if there are any issues using this particular lens with a Canon 40D.

SOURCE: Detaching Lens Hood

I'm not sure of the exact model number of your lens, but the hood should have a bayonet flange and rotating it in one direction or the other should allow it to then simply pull off.

Is a tamron 28-300 F/3..5-6.3 AFC adaptable to my canon T3I?

Tamron makes their lenses with a variety of camera mounts. If the lens has a Canon mount then it will work fine on your T3i. If it has another mount then it will need an adapter, and you will lose some functionality (probably autofocus and autoexposure).

Erro 70 on my canon T1i

Hi there:

This is Canon's word on the Err 70 message:
- Turn the power switch to <ON> to turn on the power again.
- Remove and re-install the battery.
- Use a Canon lens.
- If the instructions above do not solve the problem, please contact your nearest Canon Service Center.

It appears you have done all this. The camera will need servicing. If it is less than one year old, since date of purchase, you should call 1-800-OK-CANON and put in a claim for failure within warranty, and Canon ought to fix it for you for free.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

I have a canon 100mm macro EF 2.8 lens. When I attached it today to my camera (EOS 400d) it will not auto focus correctly. The working sound it makes is even a different sound to the normal focusing...

Your 100mm lens autofocus not working.it may be due to autofocus flex cable inside the lens damaged. It is replaceable part. You may have to contact service technician. However when you switch to manual mode it should focus & click. Try it.

I cant seem to get the lens to fous on anything within 3 feet when in macro.. am i doing something wrong?

Actually you are doing really well cause the Tamron specifications for that lens is 1.5m translated into real numbers that's 4.92 feet. If you want some serious macro let me suggest the Canon 100mm F2.5 Macro lens it's not all that bad for price unless you get the IS version then it's out of the park well sort of. Most of my macro work is done on a tripod anyway so the IS is a waist for me.

Here is a review on that lens.

http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=47

Also is you are using the APS size sensor there is a focal factor of 1.6 so the 100mm lens just grew to 180mm and twice as fast as your Tamron. Cheers

ERROR 99

I have faced similar problems previously with my Canon 20d and Sigma 170-500. Its even more annoying to see it happen in field while it would be okay back home. I was told that it is electronic compatibility problem instead of complaining the best was to change the lens and hence bought a 100-400 and happy ending.

A black shadow half way down the frame

http://www.lotek.nu/misc/EOS_300D_sub-mirror_repair/

2 cent plastic pin holding AF sub-mirror broke. See above. Unfortunately Canon charges a bit above 2 cents to fix it. Saving pennies on plastic instead of metal will make Canon a boatload of money because they will all break eventually. Of course if everyone changes manufacturer on their next camera this might backfire.

AF 70-300 causes error 99 in my Canon 300D

This is usually a torn flexible circuit or binding aperture in the lens. It'll have to go to a repair shop for replacement. About a $80 job.
