Question about Maytag Refrigerators

1 Answer

The right hand light switch broke. Switch was removed and now I can't plug the replacement into the switch because the switch is molded into the cavity of refrigerator body and the receptable connector does not move. I'm unable to pull the connector out of the cavity to mate it with the new switch. HELP !!!

The foam is holding it and welcome to appliance repair, manufacturers install these parts and then put the expanding foam in place. This acts like glue. You will have to keep working at it until you can remove it. Good luck, you will need it

SOURCE: 3-speed switch replaced with hampton bay switch. Only low speed works.

The cause to the problem was replacing a HUNTER fan switch with a Hampton Bay switch. Before removing the old switch, I noted and marked the color and position of the 4 wires. I then duplicated the connections to the new switch.

But the wire positions of Hampton Bay vs Hunter are not identical, therefore 2 wires
were crossed.

The correct way is to note the color of the wires with the corresponding NUMBER
marked on the switches, then duplicate this on the new one.

SOURCE: Bathroom Pull switch

There are two possibilities here,

1. it is a mechanical failure i.e a part of the linkage has broken leaving the switch in the on position, did you see anything obviously wrong with the old switch?

2. It is an electrical failure either overload or arcing when the switch is being operated sometimes welding the contacts together. This can happen if the light is a fluorescent tube or ring type, which in combination with the fan start up, can cause this situation. If this is the case you need a higher current rated switch.

Please remember to rate this solution.

Go to Sub Zero.com and click the showroom locator on the top left of the screen. This will take you to a locator to find the authorized parts distributor for your area I beleive the part number is 3060140 . Once you have the part remove the three phillips head screws that hold the grill in place this is assuming you don't have the louvered grill. There is a grey power cord with a white quick connect seperate this or turn the power off at the circuit breaker. You will be working on live electricity if you don't.Not good for yu life expectancy. There is one more phillips head screw for the cover of the two switches. The light switch has a white back and the fan switch has a black one. Remove the two wires then push it down and slip the new one in. Replace all that you took off. While you have the grill off vacuum the condensor.

SOURCE: No Brake Lights, unable to switch from park to drive

It is not the multifunction switch. The power feed goes thru the brake switch before the multi function. You have no power the the brake switch because your shift interlock is not allowing you to shift it. I'll look up the wiring diagram and repost with a solution.

I have a 2000 searies 2166 cub only runs wen key is in start position assoon as you let off it dies

What you are describing Steve, sounds like a faulty ingnition switch. The 'start' position is only a 'momentary' contact that when released removes power from the starter motor circuit but leaves power to the 'ignition' so the engine will continue to run. It kinda sounds like the contact that maintains connection to the 'ignition' circuit is faulty. You should not run it the way you described because you are also probably keeping the starter motor engaged along with the engine which will kill the starter soon.

Ignition switches are 'plug and play' meaning if you obtain an exact replacement, you just unplug wires either one at a time and place them on the new switch or remove the molded plug and plug it onto the back of the new switch (if it is supplied with a molded plug).

How do I change neutral switch on 883r?

Remove the cover over the rear drive belt pulley. The neutral light switch is at the right hand side up a little from the center line of the mainshaft. Remove the plug by pulling the plug straight off and unscrew the switch. Reassemble in reverse order.

I have a 98 chevy blazer 4wd the emergency lights

it's not hard, but you could set off the air bag. disconnect the battery, pump the brake a couple times to remove any stray voltage, then remove the steering wheel to access the switch. or you could (by hand) twist a drywall screw into the broken switch and shut it off that way.still broken but no longer active

Stoplights stay on all the time on my 2007 flstn deluxe

Has the front brake master cylinder been remove/reinstalled lately?

Usually, if the master cylinder is installed improperly, it breaks off the little "tab" of the brake light switch in the right hand switch housing.
This switch is a spring loaded, momentary, normally closed switch.

With this tab broke off, the brake lever can not push on the switch to shut it off when the lever is released.

You'll have to go inside the switch housing, and unsolder the old switch, and solder in a new one.

How do you remove ignition key from 2001 -pontiac grande prix

Look on the underneath of the steering column and directly under the ignition switch you will see a round plastic molded plug, pry that out with a small screw driver (it comes out easily and you will NOT hurt anything).
Leave out the plastic plug then after driving the car all you have to do is shut off the ignition, tilt the steering column up (just like you do when you exit the car), then you take your right hand and put it at the bottom right of the column, right at the swivel point, there is a small access opening about 2 X 2 inches, you put your index and middle finger in there and flip the index finger upwards and your finger nail will go right up and touch against the the button switch, you push it with your fingernail (you wont hurt anything, button moves easy and it only presses in about 1/16' of an inch), then you can take fingers out of the access hole and then you can turn the ignition key the rest of the way off and remove it...I've did this for two years with my Grand Prix (I can't see paying $300 for a new solenoid and take the chance of it happening again)...some online sites show people removing the plug and putting the screw driver in the plug hole and pressing switch button up but after I saw the square access hole in mine I just started using my finger...oh and you won't even get your hands dirty doing this.

Left turn signal wont turn off and right one wont turn on.

You need to replace the blicker switch. The metal contact on your blinker switch is not being moved when you switch it over because its a little plastic bump that snapped off. You'll have to take the plastic molding around your steering column off before you do this. Most screws are behind plastic plugs in the molding that hide the screws.

95 road king brake light does not work taillight works changed

I take it it does not work foot or hand control. look for your brake light switch right side of frame rail usually a goldish color or silver color. it has two plug in connectors. Unplug and put a test light to them. apply either brake. If the light comes on then you have a bad brake switch. replace it. if you have foot brake and no hand brake light then it would most likely be the brake nipple in the hand switch. but you did not say so I assume no brakes foot or hand.

Broken Knob for fan control

once you take off the front housing, the switch itself shoud be easy to remove and replace...sometimes, a used appliance store/repair office can get a suitable replacement part. Trick is to mark the wires as you remove them from the switch and take hte switch with you while you go part hunting. Also would help to have model and serial number (and brand name) noted to take along. Papdaddy
