Picture but no sound

Hello I have had my ps3 for the last year in in which i used it on my sony flat screen w series tv in HDMI mode with no problems. Now i tried to hook my system up in the same way to my samsung using the hdmi cord and now i only get the picture but no sound and the main menu does not come up when i quit the game. The screen just goes blank. The T.V. is a new and the hdmi hookup has worked with other devices. What can i do to make this thing work or to at least get the main menu to show up on the screen so i can take the ps3 out of hdmi mode?

Its in your manual on how to reset the video settings
with the system off - red light (standby mode), i think you hold down the power button on the unit for 5 - 10 seconds until you head 2 beeps from the system.  the green light should be blinking/talking to you and then stop.
the system should turn off on its own after the beeps.  you've just reset your video settings.

then power it on again normally and reset your video output settings.  I did this when I switched from HDMI to the **** cables it came with to play on another tv for the night.

Sony Playstation 3 + HDMI + Samsung Series 5 47"LCD Problems (tried all solutions i found) OK at my wits end now. Heres the testing I have done. Have the ps3 connected to the set using the av...

make sure ur not using both the av cable and the hdmi on some models it causes conflict although they are on different inputs. also did you try using a blu ray player or another ps3 on that hdmi port using the same cables or different cables? if another equipment work/don't work u can at least start to narrow down your problem..

No picture, sound or menu on PS3

Try booting the PS3 with the hard drive removed from the drive bay ( on the side) you just remove the small plastic piece hidding it and remove one screw. It's easy. Let me know what happens. Also make sure you also plug in the original red white n yellow cables too to check if it's just an hdmi issue or system wide.

No picture displayed on screen

OK, I am assuming you are using the same TV, PS3, cables etc that you were using before you went on vacation. Turn off the PS3...we are going to reset the video display. make sure everything is connected properly before we start. now here we "kinda" gonna turn it on, except you will hold your finger on the touch sensative power button until it beeps several times in a row with about a half second between beeps. It should reset the PS3 and the resolution.

If you get nothing on the screen after trying this several times, you should gather up 150 bucks and call sony for hardware repair.

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

I just finished setting up my system last night and was facing similar problems with sound/video from my PS3. The only option I could get working was to have the HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to the TV and then connect the Optical cable to the receiver for sound. I was under the impression that HDMI handles sound and video but for whatever reason the PS3 does not agree.

I have DTS sound and fantastic picture now through my PS3, hope this helps.

Cheers

PS3 no picture and no sound

Try turning the system off completely with the main power switch on the back of the console. If that doesnt work call Sony technical support for further help.

NO sound on HDMI3 port and when playing Blu-Ray DVD's the screen is pink

Go to the samsung website, and find out how to upgrade the firmware for your TV. You will probably need a portable usb memory stick to do so (if your TV is equipped with one). HDMI is an evolving technology, and firmware upgrades can resolve many of these quirky issues.

Here's a possibility from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faqs/supportFaqList.do?group=&type=&subtype=&model_nm=LN-S4696D&dType=D&mType=UM&vType=R&prd_ia_cd=02010100&acc_ia_fl=&disp_nm=LN-S4696D
Which Samsung LCD TVs Have The HDMI 1.3 Interface? spacer.gif Of the LN-T series Samsung LCD TVs, those models whose last two digits are 61, 65, 66, 69, 71, or 81 (for example, LN-T4071F or LN-T466F) have the HDMI 1.3 interface.
Samsung LCD TVs with HDMI 1.3 interfaces also have HDMI-CEC (HDMI - Consumer Electronics Control). For information about CEC, click HERE.
For information about individual Samsung LCD TVs with HDMI 1.3 interfaces and HDMI-CEC, click HERE. When the Samsung LCD TV web page appears, select the TV model you want information about by clicking the drop down list under Product Finder on the left side of the page.
Though other series of Samsung LCD TVs (LN-R, LN-S, etc.) have HDMI connections, none have models with the HDMI 1.3 interface.

Dell w3000 & PS3

This may not be DVI issue.
I connected DVD player HDMI ----> DVI ( Dell W3000) LCD TV.
Later I found that Dell TV version of DVI does not support HDCP protocol ( High Definition Content Protection protocol). So I could not play HDMI to DVI movies from my DVD player instead I use Y Pb Pr -- this works ok.

Hope this helps... I am not use PS3 enforces HDCP - I assume Sony linked with Sony Pictures would enforce HDCP on HDMI cable.
