When i play my xbox fuzzy black lines are up and down the screen. for example when i play online games in call of duty. it is not the game.. i tryed other games too. sometimes my 360 does not turn on... it shows one red ring. should i buy a new xbox or can i fix the lines?

Crowded servers lead to this issue, try connecting at a different time.

It sounds like your internet provider/router isn't giving you a whole lot of bandwidth to work with. That simply means your internet isn't giving you enough space to actually play call of duty. Your zombie game is probably playing alright because only four people need to connect to each other. That doesn't require a lot of space and memory of internet to do. However multiplayer demands a lot more bandwidth from your router. That might be why you aren't connecting. This could be for a number of reasons.

• Other people in your household are using the internet too, be it laptops, smart phones, printers, other gaming counsels, etc. Simply turn off these devices to receive more bandwidth for your xbox.
  
• Your router is a little too older for video games. If you are using a wireless router for your xbox, try plugging it directly to the wall or router.

check playing with this disc on any other Xbox 360 connected to live, ideally the disc should not have problem since the problem you are facing could be with saving or downloading of the specific update required to play game online on xbox live which is mostly related to updated playlists.

If it still does not work, try erasing the saves for this particular game from your Xbox 360 HDD in case you are okay to forego the game progress / XP gained for the offline campaign play.

The machine is overheating and the graphics chip on the main board is acting up cause of it. Make sure there is no dust or dirt blocking the air vents that would cause the system to heat up more then normal.

If that doesn't help then your mainboard is going bad and would need to be replaced.

This means its most likely over heating and the GPU is on its way out...

you can try using a diffrent cable see if this helps.

you could try checking the AV cords that connect your TV to you xbox 360 and making sure they are securely connected

I think because it was a BETA. They just wanted feed back, so they can tweak with the COD 5 game. That same thing happen when Halo 3 BETA came out after several week you couldn't play it no more. I have the same problem, ask your online buddies and see if they can get on. Hope that helps.

Xbox live is down atm most of the online games right now are not working and the voicemail and messaging systems are down. Im sure that the downloading system is also down. They now about it and are working on it. If you would like to track the status go to www.xboxlive.com and search status this will bring you the xbox live status whether it is working atm or not just yet they hope to have it working this week. This issue started on friday or saturday this past week.
