Hi,

f1 is a bad range control/ touchpad, here the part number for a white clock for model number MER5770aww 74008106 approx 150 bucks

is the owner's manual. The F1 thing seems to be a common problem with
this model involving the electronics - one or both circuit boards in
the control panel. Most common solution: repair call and $$, although
the Maytag repair people suggest resetting the oven by unplugging for
about and hour and re-plugging the oven.

What is an F1-8 Error?

Hello there
First your f-1 error code
The F1 Error On a number of ranges this can mean a number of things, the most common being a failed ERC(EOC, Clock assembly)or a faulty touchpad. Firstly if you are using a recent Maytag range it may pay to test the oven sensor as described above as this may cause an F1 error if faulty (may apply to some other ranges as well) this is not a common cause but is worth discounting. To check the ERC and touchpad
  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Gain access to the back of the ERC
  3. Disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the ERC to the touchpad
  4. Check nothing will short when power is reconnected
  5. reconnect the power and switch on
  6. Watch for F1 and listen for the beep
  7. If you get the F1 and the beep this means the fault is with the ERC and it will need replacing
  8. If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the beep, replace the touchpad
And the 8 error is also conclusive along with the f-1 meaning that the erc or electronic range controle is faulty and should be replaced

Maytag electric range shows F1 error message and beeps every hour or so. we've checked the fuses and they seem okay.

F1 code means a defective touchpad or membrane, usually the touch pad. Here is a simple test that you can do to determine whether the clock or the touchpad are defective when the display reads F1: Disconnect the power to the range
Gain access to the back of the ERC (clock)
Unplug the touchpad ribbon connector from the clock
Make sure everything is clear & will not short out when the power is turned back on to the range. Replace any covers removed to gain access to the ERC.
Turn the power back on to the range
Watch for the F1 and listen for the beepIf you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC (clock)
If after approx. 60 min. you do not get the F1 fault, replace the touch pad. Note: some ranges incorporate the touchpad and the clock as one part so F1 means a bad clock control.

We have a beeping sound and an error message F1-8

The code F1-8 means you have a shorted keypad. Check to see if steam or other moisture is getting into the clock assembly. Replace the keypad if necessary.
