Hi
It should take about 45 minutes to an hour to properly descale the machine. If it only took a couple of minutes you really didn't descale your machine. If you used the powder it has to disolve completly before descaling. The best way to descale is with the descaler in the tank. Turn on the machine and run about 8 ozs of water-descaler through the wand and then turn off the machine. Wait 10 minutes and repeatthe last procedure. Do this until the tank is empty. When done with the descaler, rinse out the tank and put fresh water in the tank and run the whole tank through the wand. Then fill the tank and your ready to go.
I know. That's why I mentioned the fact descaling was so short. When I descale my machine I usually do it the way you described, alternating with making large coffee through the bypass with no coffee in it. I always make sure the water turns clear when I stir the descaler, before I pour it in the tank (which I remove in order to do that). The problem I have right now is that there is no water going through the system. I can get rid of the message by selecting Factory Settings on the menu. But if I try to make coffee or just run hot water, it cannot do it, therefore bringing the Ventilate message up on the screen. But the machine can't ventilate. It looks like it can't get water to pass through. I also noticed that there is a little bit of water leaking through the bottom of the tank where there is the spring mechanism that let's the water out once you put it on the machine. I don't know if it's normal. I just noticed that, after leaving the tank sitting on the countertop for a couple of hours. Is there a way I can take the enclosure out and look inside to see if maybe something is blocking the water passage? And should I do that?
Hi
Never descale when the machine is that hot. The descaler will turn the silicone gaskets hard after a while and the machine will start to leak. Never descale through the brew unit also. It will weaken the stainless steel brew screen and it will crack. The best way to descale is through the steam wand with just water. Warm water is ok, just not hot. The programed machines that have the auto descale never turn on the boilers for that very reason.
What should I do now? How can I get the water to run through the system again?
Take the black panarrello of. Loosen the can on the panarrello all the way and the tip should come off and the cap should stay on the wand. Take a wire and stick it up the tip of the wand and see if anything is plugging the tip. When you descale sometimes calcium breaks of and plugs the tip of the wand.
If it can brew its to hot for descaling. Remember, turn the machine on and run some water through the wand, then turn the machie off. Let it set. Then repeat until the tank is empty.
Nothing seemed to be blocking the wand. I had the machine turned off since yesterday and after I was done with the wand, I turned it on. As before, Ventilate was on the display. I turned the knob to run water, nothing came out and after a few seconds I had the message Hot Water, Close Knob. I closed the knob and Ventilate showed again. This time, when I turned the knob, not only no drop of water came out, but the machine started making a very loud noise. Any thoughts on what I can do next? Thank you.
Without having the machine in front of me its hard to say. If you have one of the new type J boilers they only have 1/4" tube that runs through them. It could plug up, because I have seen that before. If it is pluged up you will have to replace the boiler. Sorry
Can I take the machine apart to see if the boiler tube is plugged up? And if I do need to replace the boiler, is it worth it? I couldn't find any Gaggia repair outlets in the area (Kansas City, Missouri), which means I would have to send it somewhere. Could I replace the boiler myself?
when I descale my syncrony compact digital it only runs for about 30 seconds and stops - I've repeated several times but can't get it to go any longer. thoughts?
