Hi there!
I would say it is the rear drum bearing which needs replacement. This is what supports the load of the entire drum. The seal is just a water seal.
The good news is that it's a bosch, and replacements are easily available. You are lucky to get 7 years use without problems. Cheaper models give up after 12 months!
Check online for spares under the model number, or have it replacd by a local technician. It is the main drum bearing you need.
If this assists to a solution, Please take a moment to rate as fixya! Thanks.
Hi,
Most, if not all access from the back.
Try lifting the drum by hand - you should get a fair ammount of play if it is faulty.
Isolate supplies,
Remove top screws at the back, and slide back top panel, then remove all external screws holding on rear panel,
You should be able to access the rear bearing quite easily from there.
There should be no need to remove the front seals etc.
Please rate this as Fixya! if it leads to a successful solution, Helpful if went part way to a solution. Thank you.
Check springs are still attatched, and that buffers faven't fallen off.
The only other thing would be the damper (s) at the bottom.
All the above cancause the drum to bang about.
I advise you investigate first before ordering parts.

Thanks for your advice Richie. Do you know how to access the inner drum
bearing? Looks like a strip down of the front panel do you think?
Jon
Hi Richie,
Not sure if you got my last post so here it is again.
Thanks for your advice, although the rear bearing seems to have only a small amount of play I will go ahead anyway!
Thanks again.

Hi Richie,
Unable to get the bearing bolt out due to it having a special tapered
Alan key socket to get it off. Could try grinding down to a taper an
Alan key to suit the socket but maybe it is time to get a quote from a
Bosch repairer.
Do you think it is now time to write off this machine? It would be a
shame as I am in favour of keeping things going instead of disposing of
an otherwise a good bit of kit.
Thanks anyway for your help.
Jon
Hi Richie,
Checked springs, ok but dampers may have some slack. How much slack is
acceptable and how can I test for this? Maybe run the machine looking
from the top?
Thanks, Jon
