Hello there!

Take note that for security-minded individuals, some Toshiba laptops can feature a fingerprint reader. This is incredibly more secure than facial recognition. You are the only person the world with your fingerprints. As long as you keep all your fingers on your hands, using the fingerprint reader is a secure way to logon to your laptop. A fingerprint reader is accurate and almost impossible to deceive, unlike facial recognition software. The convenience offered by the Toshiba fingerprint reader does not add any security risks. You can simply place a finger on the reader and access your user account.

There is several ways on how to set it up and it depends on the model. May I ask, what is the model of your Toshiba laptop?

Regards,
fossildude

My Toshiba satellite p7S5- S5320 just got in January2012, well i let a friend get on my computer and when they got off my back lights on keyboard stop working, can some one please help me to get it ba

Hi,

First, don't even think about using the recovery disk for this. Talk about overkill.. Would you really wipe out your entire system just for a little light?

Ask your friend what they did Then just undo it.

Don't let anyone use your laptop unsupervised. Or, create a guest account with limited restrictions and let them se that.

Don't know what type of system you have, since you didn't mention it, but check the documentation that came with the laptop, or look in the control panel for the keyboard settings, or the MobleMe software.

Hope this helps. Please rate this response.

It sounds like the cooling fan is going bad.. when the cooling fan starts going bad it makes a loud noise and sometimes it doesn't even run. Here's the link for a fan for that specific laptop:

Try booting up in safe mode (tap F5 as the computer starts up until you get the black screen with white text and select Safe Mode).

Log in as Administrator. With any luck you will have no password for the Administrator account.

Go to Start->Run
type CMD and hit enter

You'll be at a command prompt. Substituting your user name for <username> and a new password for <password> type in

net user <username> <password>

Now your password has been changed. Reboot into Windows and log in.
