Sony Vaio Laptop help. Ok, so my brother was using my sister's laptop. He said that he tried to guess the password "a few times", and finally got it. Then tried to use the internet and the laptop shut off randomly. The laptop won't turn on, there are no lights on it. No sounds, nothing. Does anyone know what could have happened? Or how I could fix it? Her laptop is: Sony VAIO, VGN-FS740/W Windows XP... Let me know if you need any more information. Thank you.

Try this solution to your problem.

Start your computer
1. Keep pressing "F1,F2 or F8" as the laptop computer starts.(Depending on your computer)
This will start the computer in Safe Mode.
2. When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and confim by pressing the Enter key, then PC enters the Safe Mode.
3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
4. Then click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Select the account that is locked and change the password.
5. Restart laptop and login into the account you just created using your new password.

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

If your laptop has a Microsoft Windows operating system you can do the following.

1. Boot up the computer
2. Press the F8 key evey few seconds until you see a screen with options.
3. Once you see the screen select the option which says "Last Known Good Configuration"

This will start up your laptop as it was the last time you manages to log in ok or your laptop started ok.

Please note that any drivers/software etc that you may have installed before the problem began may not work.

At one time I forgot my vista password and I use Windows Login Recovery to create a password reset disk. With the disk I successfully reset my forgotten password. Hope to help you.

Firstly, are you trying to use your wireless internet or someone elses?

Because if it's someone elses, thats exactly why they've put the password on so that other people can't use their connection.

However, if it's your wireless network you're trying to connect to, then it would be worth using your wireless cd software to change your password to something you know or to take it off completely (not reccomended as others can use your connection). You can put the cd in your own laptop and change the password.

You could try removing the cmos battery for a few minutes and letting it reset your bios. Not sure if you feel comfortable enough messing arounnd on the motherboard though.

Is the password a MS WINDOWS password or is a password that happen at around the same time as POST?

If it is a MICROSOFT password then get HIRENS... it has a MS Password unlocker on it.

Did u install any other programs anfter your vista instalation? try to uninstall them one by one, My guess is that one of the programs "kidnaped" you camera. By uninstaling one by one you can easy find out witch one it is. After uninstalling one program test your camera. If it works again you that program is the problem.
