John I suspect that the cartridge light is flashing too. Raise the cover to service the print cartridges, remove one cartridge at a time and reinsert it. While doing that watch the ready light. It should blink 3 times even with the lid raised to acknowledge a good cartridge. If one by one all the cartridges give 3-flash ready lights then the problem may not be cartridges or they may not be primed.

Replace ink cartridge before it is empty using Windows Vista

Get the new ink, when the ink light begins to flash, that will be the time to change it. Press the ink/cleaning button, the printhead will advance to the left, open the cartridge door, replace ink, close the catridge door, and hit the button again.

thanks adi

Take out the power cable from the back of the printer keep on tapping the power button for 30 secs ; then plug it back.
Take out the catridges clean them with a Lint free cloth (copper contacts); also clean the catridge slot of the printer; put in back the catridges ;
Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer; press and hol down the (#) and the (6) button simultaneously with one hand and with the other hand put in back the power cable; and then release the (#) and (6) button;
It will perform a reset on the printer
IF still then it doesn't work then the catridge slot's copper contacts has gone bad and need to replace

Catridge light and Data aresolid orange when machine turned on

This is a problem, sorry to say. The Mark Encoder is not being detected. In laymans terms this means that you need a new carrage. Part Number is C4713-60039. You also need to check on the condition of your belt at the same time. Is there somebody in your area that can do the work or are you capable ?

Will not recognise all cartridges

some problems with compatible cartridges can be solved by taking all the ink out and powering the printer off then back on then put the ink back in, you might have to do this a few times also make sure no ink or dust has built up on the pins.
