Sometimes it's the brand of DVD. If you can update the firmware you might be ok. If not try a different brand DVD. This only applies if you are burning DVDs yourself. If you are using pressed DVDs as in movies hired or bought make sure they are clean. Wipe from centre out to the edge with a clean soft cloth and some windows cleaner.
Hi. There is a change in focus by the laser for a dual layer DVD - the laseer has to read through a semi-transmissive layer for that extra information too.
Cleaning your laser lens with a cleaning disc kit may bring it bck to life especially if you smoke... else could be time for a new laser(s)
