Booting from the Dell CD that came with my laptop. No good, I never get to the menu. My computer starts booting from the CD, I get the screen where it says 'Windows is loading files' and the white bar. When the bar is full, I get the same green loading bar that I always get when Windows is loading, and then I'm back at the 'Windows can't load ...' screen. From there I'm stuck Singh

Press F12 at boot time and select to boot the Diagnostics, in there let it run through the diagnostics and see if you get any error codes.

If this is clean then try booting windows into safe mode by pressing F8 as the computer boots up, then select to boot into Safe mode with command prompt and at the command prompt type chkdsk /r let it finish and try booting your system again.

also make sure you are booting the CD by pressing the F12 key at bootup and select the CD/DVD drive as the boot source. You may be inserting a non bootable CD and it just attempts to load the hard disk after. You can tell if this is happening if the CD light is not flickering but the hard disk light is. hard disk light looks like a cylinder on most laptops.

good luck!

How to reboot fro cd

To boot your computer from a CD, first restart it. When it is starting up you will see a screen with your computer's manufacturer's logo (ie. HP, Acer, Samsung, Dell, etc.) On the bottom of this screen it should say what button to press to get to the boot menu. The button is usually escape, F1 or F2. You must press this button before the screen goes away. If you don't press the button in time then restart your computer and try again. Once you get to the BIOS boot menu, you will be presented a list of digital storage devices attached to your computer like USB drives, CD's, and hard drives. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select a device to boot from (select your CD drive.) Then press enter to begin booting from the CD. Good luck!

When trying to factory reset my Dell inspiron 1525, I pressed the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen as my computer start up. Then I select Repair Your Computer on the...

Hopefully, you have the set of CD/DVD "Dell System Restore" disks.

This might be a good time to purchase a newer, larger, faster, disk-drive, install it,
and load Windows onto it, and keep your current disk-drive as a "fall-back".

Restart your computer, and press F8, and tell the computer to boot from the first of those "System Restore" disks, rather than booting from your 'C:' drive.

Its just stuck on the Dell screen at the begining energy starpage

if the system doesn't boot past the Dell Screen, the most likely issue is the hard drive.
See if you can bring up the F12 menu at boot and run HDD diags.
If you can't do that and have the dell resource cd, you can try booting to that CD, and run diags there

Have you tried booting into safe mode or last known good configuration?

You can access the windows boot menu by pressing/tapping the F8 key as the computer as it boots.

If none of those allow windows to boot and you still can't see the error message, I suggest reinstalling your OS over the copy that is already installed.

Please let us know if this solves your problem or if you would like further assistance.
