Saniflo Sanibest macerator with multiple connections Logo

I have a saniflo sanibest model with a toilet, bathroom sink and shower hooked into it. The toilet and sink work fine, no problems, the shower however will not drain, not even a little. The shower is on top of a 2"x8" platform with a 2" drain, i removed the drain line from the unit and a bunch of water came out of the shower pipe, also, I pushed in on the check valve inside of the side inlet and a lot of water came out of the sanibest unit, there seemed to be no obstructions and the pitch from the shower drain to the sanibest is way more than the 1/4' per ft. required. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this problem and potential solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is this something that can easily be done by a novice, or should someone more familiar working with the units be called in to accomplish this?

Hi,

Where the water goes in from the shower there should be no check valve...the water should flow freely into the tank....there is no pressure that will open the valve....

You need to remove the check part or pipe it in somewhere else....
are you sure you did not pipe it into the outlet???

Hello Ray. Thanks for choosing Fixya! Your problem is most likely caused by a faulty inlet control flap. Often, a good and thorough cleaning of the inlet control flap is all that is needed. Certain bath shampoos and conditioning products have a tendency to "gum up" the flap preventing it from doing it's job. I am including a link to the installation manual for your product that will show you exactly where and how to get to the inlet control flap and maintain it. Joe

P.S. If your efforts do not solve the problem please contact one of our service engineers by calling Saniflo's head office at 1-800-571-8191.

Toilet and shower runs great for a year> just had a sink hooked up and now toilet and shower back-up> was the sink hooked up wrong? to a vent or wrong pipe>

Nah, that doesn't sound like the toilet or sink were hooked up wrong, your sewage tank is probably full, you can have it pumped out for $100 or so. They fill up every so often for w/e reason.

Do the saniflow toilet need to be plumbed in to mains waste? I have a patient who needs a toilet located outside the house that needs to be trouble free

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

In short yes it will need plumbed with a smaller drain line to the home waste drain.

The unit uses a fast-rotating blade to reduce waste and toilet paper in the flush water, which is immediately and entirely released under pressure through "small-diameter piping" to the sewer or septic tank. No special maintenance is needed and the pump is sealed for life. This simple and cost-effective alternative to conventional plumbing is ideal for basement renovations and other home-improvement projects. Properly sized, a Saniflo macerating system can handle all the fixtures in a bathroom, including the sink, shower, tub and toilet & endash; even on a septic system. What's more, these fixtures will work up to 12 feet below and as far as 150 feet away from a septic tank or sewer line.
