Hi, wonder if you could help, my PS3 was fine last night but when i turned it on this morning it wouldn't play or even recognise a disc was in the console, i've looked everywhere for a phone number but can't find one, can you help plse.

same here, i was using my ps3 fine dis morning playing warhawk i stoped playing to goto my main menu and when i tried to play again and hour later it wouldn't read the disc. I have the 60g version please help. i did a system update last nite could the have anything to do with it?

If you have problem with loading your disk or some kind of media a most common error is Disk Read Error,or in a short way DRE.
Ps3 Laser is a very precise mechanism and optic and also a well none proble for the all machine right now on the Market.
Sony had the same problem before with PS2 and tried to fix the same issue all ready but without any luck at all.Actually i do believe is Part of the Market Strategy making the laser not to strong so people can buy new laser and keep the techical support alive.Most common error on Ps3 is DRE and some other like power supply Failure or Hd defective.
What is sad actually the fact the laser is Collapsing onthe spot.
On the ps2 you have some time to realize the laser is bad since the machine start not reading well or freezing during the game.On ps3 the laser stop working and that`s it.
I suggest to replace laser or try to clean first because sometimes if you are lucky the laser start working again

if you have a ps3, i can't help you. If its a 360, then the console may have recieved some kind of shock while playing, and circle scratched your disc. Its either that or a fairly common hardware failure. Call 18004myxbox. microsoft tech support should help you out.
sony is workin` on this right now.. I bet the problem started last night or this morning, right? `The Leap-Year Effect`, strikes again !. they hope to have it fixed in a day or two... I hope so too!
i have had similar problems as well as multiple friends of mine. to solve this, you must call the playstation company and send your system in to be serviced. if you have purchased it within the last year and have proof, sony will fix it for free. if not, they will charge you $150 for their services. this is the only way to fix the problem
try playing a blu-ray movie if it wouldn't play blu-ray movies or PS 3 games you laser is bad. I you need help changing it I can email you detailed instructions.
I look all over the net but could't find anything, until i found a site that said they could show me how to fix any problem with my ps3.
