My speakers just stopped working. No power when I turn know to turn on and increase volume

Ir you are lucky it will be your power supply that's gone dead. Use a volt meter to see if the power supply is working or try to find a power supply with the same characteristics (voltage, polarity and amperage). If that doesn't work, the amplifier may be busted. If so you'll need new speakers.

The speakers quit working/what do I do?

Make sure that it is the speakers that stopped working by unplugging them from your computer (or whatever you have them plugged into), and plugging headphones into the same jack that the speakers were plugged into.If the headphones work, you have confirmed that the problem is with the speakers. If the speakers use an AC adapter (black plastic cubical thing that plugs into the wall), then you might try getting a replacement AC adapter with the same output (AC or DC), voltage, polarity (which side is positive, and which is negative), and connector. If the speakers plugged into a USB port for power, your USB port may have turned itself off. In that case, reboot the computer to see if the USB port will turn back on.
If none of this works, you have to buy new speakers.

If my speakers don't work, but they are turned on and the speakers are plugged in. The volume on my computer is turned up to almost max.

Plug in a set of headphones in place of the speakers, for testing, and see if they work. This will let you know if the problem is the computer or the speakers.

I cant get my speakers on my computer to work

Computer speakers are specially designed for a computer desktop environment. They are smaller than normal stereo speakers and often have built in volume controls and amplifiers. In most cases, you can plug in your computer speakers and have them work immediately. Occasionally, however, you will need to adjust your computer sound settings to get them to work correctly.
  1. Step 1 Plug your speakers into each other. Most PC speakers have a detachable cord that goes between them. Powered speakers have a cord that plugs into the wall, which may be detachable as well.
  2. Step 2 126401_thumb.jpg Image Courtesy of: http://www.hardware.windowsreinstall.com/soundcards.htm Look at the sound card output in the back of your computer. If your soundcard has three colored jacks, plug into the green one. If it does not have colored jacks, plug into the one next to the jack with the picture of a microphone. Plug the power supply into a wall socket.
  3. Step 3 Turn on the speaker, turn up the speaker volume and play some music. If it doesn't work, continue to step 4.
  4. Step 4 Turn your volume up on whatever media player you are using. If the music still doesn't play, continue to step 5.
  5. Step 5 Go to the volume settings. If you are using windowsmag-glass_10x10.gif, click Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control.
  6. Step 6 Adjust the volume settings. Use your mouse to drag the main "Volume Control" slider and the "Wave" slider all the way to the top. If either of them have the "Mute" box checked, uncheck it. Try the sound again.

Speakers Plugged In Right But Wont Turn On??

If the power light on the speakers isn't on, then the power supply going to the speakers is either in a bad outlet (test the outlet with a voltage meter) or the plug isn't firmly seated. Best of luck in your new home and hope this solves your problem.

Can't set up speakers to work with the computer

Hi

Speakers are usually very simple to set up. If they are standard speakers then all you should need to do is plug them in at the mains, and then plug them into the correct port on the back of your computer. There are three holes the same size for speakers/headphones, microphone and possibly video. I'd suggest putting some music on (use windows media player or go to playlist.com) then plugging the speaker cable into each hole in turn - one of them should work. Make sure that the speakers are turned on and that the volume is turned up. Also if you go to Start>>>All Programs>>>Accessories>>>Entertainment>>>Volume Control and make sure that the volume there is set to at least halfway for each and that the mute box is not checked for any.

If this does not work then there may be a problem with your soudcard or with the speakers themselves. Try using headphones and if this works then you know that there's a problem with the speakers.

Hope this helps!
