Dell usually sets a default password as password or admin Try those first. If no luck go into the bios setup by continually tapping the exc key while the computer boots. If your licky you may be able to set yourself as administrator and give yourself admin rights. With admin rights you can do anything.
You can reset bios password with pull cmos cell from motherboard. For that open back cover of laptop then you can see motherboard chip set. Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings goes to defaults. Then it will not ask for password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
Upgrade your bios firmware.

Hey,
you can reset the bios with a boot cd called ultimatebootcd which is free.
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html
It contains a program called !bios or iBios from which you can run a reset / attack on the bios and it removes the password.
Or you can run the wipeCmos utility
they are all under the bios selection.
so you download the cd image from the above linked page (scroll down to find the links)
burn it to a cd
start the machine from the cd
select bios
run !bios
perform the standard attack.
restart the machine and the password should be gone.
Done it on my own laptop some time ago.
You can remove that password by removing all power sources to the laptop. Disconnect from AC power, remove the laptop battery, and then remove the CMOS battery located under the hinge cover. You can find detailed instructions with pictures here

Remove the CMOS battery and hold for a minute and put the battery back in. All BIOS settings including the password will be reset to factory defaults.
The way to reset password is to remove the battery and restart the computer or you will see three pin with a jumber remove the jumber short pin 2 and pin 3 and restart your computer this will reset the bios when you restart you will see press del to go to bios or F1 to default setting pres del then adjust your bios if the password pop up click enter without entering the password in confirm password click enter blank password go to exit click save and exit on restarting and shut down your computer uplug the power cord if you have shorted the CMOS pin put them back to pin 1 and 2 and if you removed the CMOS battery replace them and restart your computer
Hello
In order to reset the bios password you must remove the button/coin cell battery called the CMOS memory backup battery. Below you will find a link to the service manual section for your model D620 that explains with pictures how to remove/replace the battery, in your case remove the battery for 5 minutes, the Bios password will then be reset.

If you wish to replace the battery since you have it removed the number of the battery is "CR2032"
This is the correct solution and is a standard bios password reset for all computer regardless of manufacturer.
After submitting my solution for the Bios password reset I see you have already tried removing the battery (additional comments by you are only see after I submit my solution), so here is what is needed to clear the password, go to the Dell support link below, it provides the information on how to get the password reset in your model D620 Laptop, there is no "master password"

PLEASE CONTACT DELL SUPPORT AT THE PROVIDED LINK ABOVE, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE THIS, IT IS FREE.

I have tried this in the past and tried it again now, but it does not solve the problem.
Let me detail the problem: I can install the OS and use the computer, and I can view the BIOS settings, but I cannot edit them. I need the "master" password, which (from what I read on forums) is generated using the service tag I provided.
In other posts on FixYa I saw experts that provided these passwords, but as they are attached to those users service tags are useless to me. I am waiting for one of those experts to help me too.
Also advising me to buy 50$ worth of service/software to unlock my BIOS is not an option. I already paid FixYa for a premium response, so I'll wait just for that and hope it was worth my time.
Removing the CMOS battery doesn't work. Tried it long before posting here.
Also, I already have software that can remove/reset the BIOS password (for free), but as with any software there's a possibility it can brick my laptop. So I want to try the alternative before taking this risk.

None of the bios tools from Ultimate Boot CD work for my laptop. Already tried it before posting on FixYa.
My laptop is out of the warranty period so Dell support is not an option.
Upgrading the firmware does not work. It says "Cannot run under a protected enviroment".
I cannot, because my country is not supported. This laptop was bought outside of US. If Dell support was an option I wouldn't have come to FixYa.
