I switched on my LG 42" LCD TV this morning and one half of the screen had no picture just blue and white vertical lines. Then half the screen went blank and then the picture has thankfully turned to normal. Can you advise me as to what this was and if it will persist in the future.
Kind regards
Miss S Johnson

Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
IMO Seriously for $119 it's not worth it.
However, it does sound like a capacitor problem
If you are "Serious" about fixing I'd find a TV repair Forum.
Else I'd go here and get a new one.

try to go to the factory reset and see if that helps. If not, you can then check your connection. if you use component (red, green and blue for video and red and white for audio), make sure all the color matches when you plug it in. if everything have been checked then you need to replace the main board and it should correct the problem.
