Question about White Sewing Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a White serger about 8 years old. I jammed up that it can not go forward or reverse. I can turn the wheel just so far. I rethreaded and cleaned everything. When the needles go down to the bottom feeds they rub against the bottom thread guides and cannot go any further. Is there anything I can do to adjust anything? Everything is tight and where it is supposed to be.

The moving parts on sergers have very precise settings and minute tolerances. When something prevents the machine from turning, one must be very careful. Try disengaging the knife. If that doesn't help, I would strongly recommend taking it to a knowledgeable repair person.

The upper looper is jammed and will only move up and down not left or right

Turn everything off.. at the power supply... (safety first)... you will need to rethread your machine...and try again.... But in the past I have had to take my serger/ overlocker into the technician... usually meant the upper looper arm was out of whack 'due to tension too high'... I do a lot of stretch knit sewing.. jarmies and baby onesies etc... not a bigger... quick to replace... I did notice that it was worse when my fabric was too 'light/thin'... and would often jam then...

Hand wheel turns half way and won't go any further, nothing appears to be hitting anything

Did you do a thorough oiing "inside" the machine--like take the bottom or back off, hand rotate the handwheel and apply a drop of "fresh, good quality serger oil" every place where metal rubs against metal?

Elna serger is not creating chain stitch

Rethread! Your lose looper has a "hidden" eye all the way to the left. You will find task easy with serger looper tweezers and serger looper Threader; however, if you turn hand wheel to the left, the lower looper will slide in that direction. Now you will see that "hidden" hole now. It takes practice, but you can still thread it without the extra tools! Hope this helps and if it does, I will get point for if you give me rating since I offer my time free to help others. Jimmy

The wheel that lowers the needle will not move forward, it will move in reverse to some extent. I have rethreaded , and pulled out the bobbin casing and no change.

Do not turn your wheel to the rear! You will mess up the timing. You have thread or cloth caught in the bobbin area. Clean your machine as per your manual.

Hi there, my husqvarna 936 is jamming slightly when i turn the hand wheel and when i use the pedal it works but their is a load catching noise can you help me plz

Hello, The first thing to do with a serger is to change the needles and take the thread off the machine and rethread it. The 936 can sometimes "fight" you a little when it comes to getting the needles up in all the way. It's critical that they are inserted all the way up in the needle clamp. Check to also make sure the N/R lever is in the N position. Check the needle plate, are the "needle like" pins still attached to the plate? If your serger jammed, sometimes the thread breaks the pin supports out of the plate. They are very important when it comes to stitch formation.

White serger

You did not say it jammed from thread or just stopped working.

If it is thread, then you will need to carefully use embroidery scissors with a sharp point or a razor blade to cut at the lump of threads and carefully pull them out with your tweezers till you clear the mess. Use your vacuum to get all bits out of there, being careful and not hitting the loopers. You can knock them out of alignment with thread jams and such.

If it just stopped and you cannot turn the wheel, then it needs a trip to the repair shop, either your dealer or to a sew and vac repair where they know how to service sergers.
