I have the Troy-bilt 2550 psi pressure washer with a Briggs & Stratton engine (model# 020337). Originally, it would start and die immediately. I took the pump apart and cleaned out the unloader valve and now it will stay running. But now, when not cranked, water flows through just fine. When I crank it, water stops coming from nozzle and the relief valve eventually lifts. I'm afraid I put the ball and spring in wrong (in port directly under the 3 cylinder ports) because when I take it out completely, water flows but with no pressure. How should it go in or am I completely off base? Thanks!

I would replace the internal part of the unloader valve, it is known as the unloader seat, I can order you one it would take 2-3 days, Part number is 193972 price is $45.06. If you are interested in ordering one send me a email at [email protected] with the information that I just gave you.

Another thing that you can check is the outlet check valve, the tube that you screw your high pressure hose onto has a valve built into it, if that valve went bad or if there is something stuck in it you would also have this problem. If you take the tube off the valve will be right where you screw that pipe onto the pump, the valve is part number 190592, price on this is $8.16.

SOURCE: Need to know where oil

I have the same model...... it should be just underneath the unit.... it will look like a square head recessed. I used the ratchet set extension and it fit just right. I literally had to tilt the darn thing upside down to find it. Then once it was loosen a bit, I put the machine upright on the wheels again, and slip a plastic pan underneath as I finished unscrewing the oil plug, Out came the black goo.

SOURCE: I have a Troy Bilt

Best oil for small engine for most moderate climates is 30wt non-detergent. The pump can use mineral oil (air compressor oil ) sold at most auto stores and lumber outlets.
