Heard loud pop, then no picture, still has sound. turned tv off and on and still no picture. is this tv worth fixing? not sure how many hours are left on the tv. I have noticed lately a lot of green and red dots flashing around on screen. does this point to the end of the life of the plasma tv???

The plasma gas tubes may be damaged or the gas couldve leak out. remember plasma have to remain upright at all times even when transporting them, if they are not you should just set it up straight for about 3-4 hours before turning it on.
If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp. The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours. Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.
my first question is have you checked the bulb. the loud pop sound like the bulb blew and the rattling sounds like the lamos trying to fire. remove the bulb cover and unscrew the bulb
