The fax machine does not pick up paper from the tray

Leave the machine and attend to it at a later time repeating all you initially did.

try cleaning the under the roller that picks the paper with nail polish remover and its a go!

Tray this:
open the left cover, check the pick-up solenoid by hand, if it remain as bonded in the part under, you have to remove from the part under the little rubber band with a screwdriver. Then recheck the solenoid if it works good.

Take note:
Usually in the tray paper jams are caused by the pick-up rollers being dirty so clean them using a well wrung wet clothe.
Also the clutch and soleinoid problem. Also take not of the transport system for the paper if there is anything not in its right position any thing loose they must have somewhere you shold afix them.

Open the back cover door, clean the roller.

Below would be the suggested solution regarding paper feeding problems;

If Paper does not feed into the machine.
• Remove any obstructions inside the machine.
• Paper has not been loaded correctly. Remove paper from the
tray and reload it correctly.
• There is too much paper in the paper tray. Remove excess
paper from the tray.
• The paper is too thick. Use only paper that meets the
specifications required by the machine.

best guess is it belongs under the paper lift plate in your paper tray, remove the paper tray and all the paper, there should be a metal paper lift plate in the paper tray, these are typically spring loaded to lift the paper into place. lift the plate and check the underside for the location of the spring, there is usually a retainer of some sort to hold the spring in place. once the spring is in place the tray should feed correctly.

The extension at the back of the tray has broken off, so the machine doesn't recognize that the tray has been put back in. Solve this by taking a piece of cardboard (business card works good), fold it up and insert it into the sensor at the far left where the extension would have gone when the tray is inserted. This will trick the machine into thinking that the paper tray has been inserted.

There is a sensor in paper tray .u will see just its lever at the other end of lever there is a sensor .i think it is dirty .just clean it properly.now when u will put paper u will listen beep.now sensor is working .fails to pick up mean that fax try to pick paper but not pick the paper .there is a ruler justclean it with cloth and some licquid.and properly check this ruler is movi ng or not moving.
