Sounds like you are right. You could try your original HDD in another m/c to see if it boots there.

Lacie Case Only lighting up when HD is disconnected

I had the same problem with a 1TB hard drive. The fault was caused by the casing being knocked from the computer and falling onto the desk. If the hard drive hadn't been powered up it would have been ok...
I removed the hard drive from the casing and fitted it into my computer as a slave drive, hoping to access all the music and movies stored in it. No go .. But, it's worth you fitting your hard drive as a slave and trying the same. It's worth a shot.
I took the hard drive to a computer market here in China, where I work. These guys take hard drives apart to fix them, if possible. They couldn't fix my hard drive as it had been powered on when it fell ..
However, I bought a new desktop hard drive and they were able to transfer 95% of all things from the old hard drive to the new one. The cost of transferring from the old hard drive to the new hard drive was the same as the price of the new hard drive. That specialist service doesn't come cheap ... but it can be done. I paid simply because I didn't want to lose what had taken more than a year to download.
Try fitting your hard drive as a slave to see if you can access the information on it. If not, a new hard drive and the cost of transferring your music from your old hard drive may be the only course of action left open to you

120G hard disk doesn't work on p4m266a mother board

The hard disk maybe faulty especially if the BIOS cannot detect the hard disk.
Try connecting the hard disk into an USB hard drive adapter and then plug it into the USB port of a working computer. If this computer cannot detect the USB hard drive adapter as an external storage device then this hard drive is faulty.

The hard drive don't running

Check connections. If that doesn't work, try putting it in a different computer. If that doesn't work it's probably broken.

Hello, I formatted my external hard drive Samsung G2 HX-MU050DC and i lost the drivers. I can not find drivers. Can you help me please? Because i can no longer read the files that are on it. Thank you...

According to the microsoft site your external hard drive which is the Samsung G2 HX-MU050DC doesn't need any additional software it is automatically installed when connected..Maybe try to connect it to other USB port I preferred you connect it at the back of your CPU..If this doesn't work try to connect your external hard drive to other computer if it still doesn't work. sad to say but the problem is your external hard drive..

My usb touro external hard disk won't turn on/ be detected. its so new. its really frustrating

You need to be sure that it is plugged into a USB 2.0 slot. Sometimes USB 2.0 devices will not be detected in USB 1.0 or 1.1, or on low powered USB slots. The back of your computer is the most likely location for a USB 2.0 and is likely indicated.

When i plug in my hard drive it starts to make a clicking sound as the motor begins. It is not connecting. What do i do?

This doesnt always means the drive is bad, it can just be the cable...
My girlfriend bought me a verbatim 250gig external drive, which accoring to her was new from the shop but my PC couldnt pick it up, when connected, blue light flashes with a clicking nose... tried all usb ports but nothing... (wanted to take it back but she lost the receipt!!!!) after that didnt really bother with it until one evening playing FIFA on my sisters playstation and realised that the usb cable is the same as my external drive, so tried the cable and VOILA!!!!!!! PC picks it up and works as suppose to, till this day... So guys and gals, before going out to replace your external drive, borrow a playstation usb cable from your neighbor and have a go...

hope this helps
cheers!

My hard drive is not working!!!!

You can access your HDD from the old computer but cannot boot your HDD from that old computer. I think you down load a file with virus, maybe your computer was infected with virus coming from that crack. Means you have to re-install your computer.

Won´t charge

My SLVR had the same problem, so I bought a new one from Amazon. When I plugged the new one in the first time it did fine, but when I ran the battery completely out, it wouldn't charge. I played around with it a little bit, and I think I've found a solution that works: try taking the SIM card out of the phone, THEN charge it. It works on both my new one and my old one that way. The drawback for you is that you can't use your phone while its charging, I just switch phones while the other is charging, a bit of a pain sometimes, but the SLVR is my favorite phone so its worth it. :-) Good Luck.

Hard drive Self Test

If I may ask a dumb question, was the new drive formatted prior to running the test? A unformatted drive will fail.
