ValuSoft MasterCook Deluxe 9.0: Windows Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 09, 2010

I am having a sudden problem with Mastercook 9 crashing. I use Windows XP. The problem happens after I've input a new recipe using Import Assistant. I save the recipe, click DONE, but then when I click on one of the tabs - - More Information, for instance -- it crashes. What's weird is that I've been using MC9 on this machine for some time but now suddenly this problem keeps happening.

i think u are probably out of luck. this software looks like it came from the late 90s and will work with anything up to xp, but vista & win7 are a whole different ballgame. best solution, buy an old laptop with win98 or 2000 or xp super cheap on ebay, or beg one from a friend, and use ur software on it there in the kitchen. that's what i do with my old laptop. works great if u have room in the kitchen lol

also transfer ur fave recipes from 20,000 recipes to a recipe organizer program like mastercook, it's much much better for searching plus u can enter 1000s of new recipes from anywhere. u can get older versions of mastercook for $5 on ebay. version 8 works just great for me with winxp. (WARNING if ur interested in mastercook on ur NEW computer, get version 11, the older ones DON'T work w/Vista or win7.)

It seems that one of your files is corrupted in some way - and the software does not recognize it. If there is an export import option, you could possibly export from the old and import to the new? Hope this helps

Wanting to upgrade old Mastercook program to meld to new computer

ValuSoft says that MasterCook 9.0 is only supported in Windows 98-XP. Specifically not Vista compatible. What's wrong with these people? I have Vista and didn't realize until tonight that some of MasterCook doesn't work right. So, buy XP.
