Om my Panasonic DVD Recorder Model No DMR-EX85EB I have lost tuning to the Digital Decoder for freeview channels. Annalog tuning is working ok. At a gues do you think this would this be a simple repair?...

Open the device and remove the hard drive.
Look at its assembly's legs. If they are bent they have probably cracked the board.

Looking at the device having the front side towards you, look at where the upper right screw from the hard drive's assemblly was. You'll notice the board is broken just there.

If it is, you'll have to remove the whole board and rebuild the broken tracks underneath, usually a pair of them.

Hope you can solve the issue. Good kuck!

AFFICHAGE U81 panasonic DMR 85

Check that C1801 is not leaky. If so, check if IC1801 has blown. If it has blown, it will also need to be replaced.

Usually it's only C1801 leaky, replace it and thats it.

You can find the capacitor on the main board, under the digital board that has ribbon cables going to the dvd drive.

Hope this helps.

What ever disc I insert it show NoRead. It seems to think there is a disc in when there isnt

I have the same problem on a DMR-EX85EB DVD Recorder, and the local approved repair tecnician told me I had to replace the DVD drive. The cost was in the region of £200, unless your machine is still under guarantee.
