Hello there,
I have a new HP PAvilion Elite, desktop. It runs Vista.
Also i have a Logitech Quickcam Express Plus. The cam works fine in any other application (Skype, MSN...) but Yahoo messenger.
With Yahoo Messenger the cam is acting extremely random; sometimes it just works fine but most of the time i get an error msg saying "webcam is not detected". As i mentioned the webcam works fine with all other applications.
I already tried to uninstall Yahoo Messenger and install latest version (tried with both version 8 and 9). Also i downloaded the latest Logitech drivers for Vista, uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
I even tried the link below as suggested in one of your post and make some changes related to the pic size
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger7/webcam/webcam-03.html
Still the same situation.
Can you guys help me in anyway?
thanks
You cannot access camera source until the webcam is running in Messenger - try setting it up from scratch
1) The webcam is working outside of Messenger
2) Reboot webcam by unplugging the USB connection and inserting it again - its important if its been used elsewhere and prior to chat.

Hi Tbalm
i did try it already. Unfortunately when i go to the "webcam" category the "camera source" field is greyed out most of the time so it doesnt allow me to select .
I think thre must be a compatibility problem with VISTA and Yahoo messenger. Cam works fine for both Skype and MSN.Pity, most of my friends use Yahoo.
Any other ideas?
thanks again
error sayin webcam not connected
i have exactly the same problem, and is very frustrating not getting a fix for it - the person who posted this is right on, he/she even "said" that sometimes (most times) the "camera source" is greyed out - so it is useless that someone (whose intentions are obviously good) should say "go to preferences and select camera source" (which is the same problem i'm suffering from. Also, like the poster of this problem, the camera works excellent for MSN - i have Vista Ultimate - Yahoo 9 (and yesss i have tried going back to older yahoo versions and noooo i'm not going through the hassle of uninstalling vista) . soooo is there PLEASE anybody who really knows the answer to this problem ???
Same problems with HP Pavilion tx 1000 series - 1327cl
Same problem here. I bought an HP camera with my HP PC, I assume the camera is made by logitech. The cam works seldom in Yahoo IM, but it does work once in a while (maybe 1 out of 50 times). Very frustrating. I have not found a solution yet.
