Mitsubishi VS 5041 rear projection

Hi,
i have this TV that i simply adore. There is asentimental value attached to it. the problem i have is, it stopped working about 4 years ago, as it lost a RED crt. I am also a survivor from constant nagging from my wife to dump it. i would really appreciate if you can let me know where to find a used crt.
regards
AV

If it has been four years since the set has worked you are going to ned all three CRT's I'm afraid, the tubes will go soft just from sitting and not being used. also I bet there are a ton of bad capacitors in this Tv set now also.

Mitsubishi VS-5041

your set is not a DLP its a traditional rear projection tv set and has three picture tubes
there is not a bulb or color wheel in this model
if its dead ? you would need to check the power supply first to see if you have the proper voltages . the trouble shoot the rest of the circuits to see what is shutting it down . convergence circuit failure is always a good suspect in these sets

The color on my mitsubishi model # vs-5041 is faded and foggy.

Hi, did you try a color convergence? I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:

Hope this helps :)

Mitsubishi VS-5041 (TV turns on but no pic or sound)

Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck
