1st go to the windows start menu,then go to the up right corner of the screen then a menu should come up,then select settings and then select personalization,then select a backround or use your backround on the desktop,stay on the background if you want a color only,select a color i you choose to stay on the background.Watch the video for more info

mcdevito75 here, Yes you can change the theme or your monitors backround look. Click Start, the control panel, the Appearance and themes, then Backround, here you will find your coice of backround themes for your monitor, once you choose which theme you click ok, and your done.
Go ahead and right click anywhere on your desktop, select personalize and from there select your favorite image, then just center it, stretch it, etc.
that is the way for Win7 I believe is the same for Vista and Xp.
