Camera not working - S85 Digital Samsung Camera

My digital camera, when putting in newly recharged batteries, all of a sudden decided to turn on for a moment, then sounds very weak at opening the camera lens, then will shut down and beep three times.... any help would be grateful :-)

Thanks!

    Hi there,

I actually bought some new rechargeable batteries because this was happening and I let them charge overnight. Should I try it with some alkaline batteries to see if it's something wrong with the camera itself? Thanks a bunch!

If you've had the rechargeable batteries for a long time, they can wear out. I would try getting some new rechargeable batteries or try some lithium batteries in your camera. They're a little more expensive but they're the best for digital devices and they last a little longer.

That's a good idea. Try it with some regular batteries and if that doesn't work, I would still suggest trying some lithium batteries. Sometimes they really do the trick. If that still doesn't work, it may be time for an upgrade :/

Hello i have a samsung camera model S85 and when i try to turn it on it does 3 beeps and doesnt even turn on.

Assuming you've tried the obvious test of using new batteries, it's unfortunately likely to be the infamous "lens error". This is such a common problem that someone has written a blog just addressing this one error. You can read it here - it describes it far more completely than I ever could!

Also, check this post.

Samsung S85 problem

I have had similar symptoms that seem to be due to battery power.
Using and OHM meter I find that the Samsung S85 eats batteries. If the charge drops to 1.4 something volts from a 1.5+ volt battery, the camera does not function properly.
The camera is nice an compact ... but I need to carry the same volume in batteries to make sure I can use it.

S85 camera will not turn on just beeps three times

I figured out the fix:
Take the batteries out, put them back in and close the battery cover. Next, turn on the camera and before it can finish the three beep sequence, open up the battery cover(disconnecting the battery power). Close the battery cover (reconnecting the batteries) and switch on the camera. It may take a couple of tries, but it seems to be a "poor man's reset"
