A single, thin, vertical line has appeared in the left portion of the picture, but not near the edge. The line runs top to bottom, usually dashed in red, blue or white, and is there all the time. Otherwise the picture is very good. The TV is about 3 years old. How can I fix this?

Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
There are 7 tabs holding the mirror cover on three along the bottom ,two just below the horizontal middle line and two at the top.Squeezing the bottom corner near the car towards the outside of the mirror and pulling gently forward will release the weakest clip at the bottom. The other two bottom ones poke vertically down, the middle two hook over their slot with the hook facing down.Lifting the bottom edge of the mirror cover will help release these. As in the manual push the mirror back along the bottom edge to get some access at the top then using a thin screwdriver push down on two black clips at the left and right upper side edges of the top of the mirror try at the same time to lift the mirror cover up and towards the back of the car to release the remaining bottom and middle clips.Have a look at night with a torch and you may be able to see what is going on with the top two clips. Be careful not to apply too much pressure and break the clips. I have taken pictures which I will try to post on another site. Most mechanics were useless in explaining how to do this but I finally found one who could. The other answers above are not relevant.
it can be fixed but in this case i doubt its worth fixing. these problems can be astronomically expensive and personally i would buy a nice new bravia or something similar. please rate
now only visible in a thin horizontal line.
first of all you reduce brightness to monimum.
it just to protect your tv from crt demage.
your problem is in horizontal output section as you have mentioned that week or so ago the right and left bottom edges of the picture began to move in like a sideways triangle filled with black so this sympton is due to hor. section problem.
your flyback transformer or horizontal output might be defective.
but remember check for power supply is ok from
surge protector
hope this will help.
This appears to be a failing component possibly the CCD.
It may be possible to replace the camera if this is the case
An offer to repair however will be almost the price of buying the next camera.
Contact the Canon support website.
I would suspect a connection breaking down as the set heats up. A shop will probably have to put the set in a stand to hold it while they check for loose connections or defective components inside. Not a DIY job by any means. If this line went completely through the picture either vertically or horizontally and stayed there then this would have indicated a failure in the Panel itself. A thin Line any where on the screen consisting of one pixel in width is a Panel Failure according to Hitachi.
