Check/replace your speaker wires. If a wire came loose, it will go into "protect" mode and shut down, to protect from a short circuit.

I have a Sony receiver model Str - de 435 it constantly flash Protector and I tried everything to fix this any ideas

The protector indicator usually indicates that one of your amplifiers has shorted output transistors. This is not a user repairable problem and the amp will have to be taken into the shop for service.

This amp wwhen turned on, dosplays 'PROTECTOR' on teh display, what is this telling me?

Disconnect all the speakers and unplug it for 5 minutes. Then turn it back on without any speakers plugged in. If it doesn't say protector, then you either have a shorted out speaker or wire. The amp is in protection mode which is designed to keep it from burning up. If it still says protection, then it will need to be repaired as it is too late.

Sony str de345 in protect mode

If PROTECT , PROTECTOR or a P is flashing in the display of the A/V receiver, there may be an incorrect connection or an improper setting. Try following these steps to resolve this issue:
IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is needed to complete any of these steps, refer to the instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are available online through the Manuals/Specs/Warranty link on this page.
NOTE: Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the A/V receiver status after completing each step.
  1. Check the speakers and speaker wires for proper connections.
  2. Reduce the volume level. IMPORTANT: If the A/V receiver is used at maximum volume level, it may enter the PROTECT mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the A/V receiver to run very hot and may drain the output capacitors.
  3. If applicable to your model, disable the surround sound option if both the A and B speakers are being used simultaneously.
  4. Ensure the top of the A/V receiver has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating.
  5. If the message only occurs when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high. IMPORTANT: Some A/V receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the owners manual for specific information.
  6. Unplug the AC power cord for approximately 1 to 2 hours to reset the output transformers.

My sony str-d1o15 says protector

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR is flashing on the A/V receivers display.
  1. Check the speaker wires and speakers for proper connections.
  2. Reduce the volume level. IMPORTANT: If the receiver is played back at maximum volume level it may enter the protect mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the receiver to run very hot and may drain the output capacitors.
  3. Disable the surround sound option if both the A and B speakers are being used simultaneously.
  4. Ensure the top of the receiver has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating.
  5. If the message only occurs when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high. IMPORTANT: Some receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the owners manual for specific information.
  6. Unplug the AC power cord for about 1 to 2 hours to reset the output transformers.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.
