RE: ignitor keeps clicking after burner ignites
There are apparently two burner ignitor designs:
A) clicks when knob is rotated to a specific "Lite" position and clicking stops when knob is rotated beyond that position
B) clicks when knob is rotated to any position and automatically stops clicking when flame is sensed. The flame sensor is apparently the igniter rod itself. Pretty hi-tech: amazing how fast the flame is detected.
I just dealt with the "B" case on a Viking with a Harper-Wyman Kool-Lite 6540 ignitor module. What can be confusing: the spark wires must be plugged into a specifically numbered "REIG" position on the module which matches the corresponding knob switch wires. Otherwise the ignitor keeps sparking after one burner is lit (and will only turn off after all burners are lit. Why this complication: probably to do with the requirement that when one burner is already lit and flame is sensed, the device must be able to ignite another burner). None of the wires are marked by manufacturer (how crazy is that?) but you can probably figure it out with a multi-meter (I just randomly moved them around until it started working right; there are 4! = 24 combinations for 4 wires but it took me only about 6 tries and I guess I got lucky).

Sounds like the spark module has gone bad. Need to make sure you have voltage to the cooktop first.
SOURCE: burner caps
Call a local independent whirlpool dealer. they can order the parts from a supplier, and most do not charge sipping as sears a.k.a. A&E will. And they will usually be less expensive too.
SOURCE: One burner igniter fails to spark after getting wet
Each burner has its own switch to direct current to the igniter. It appears that one of the four switches burned or shorted out, while the other three survived the flood. These switches are replaceable, so that's how I'll fix the problem.

Hello. Generally, the best local source for LP gas valves is your LP gas provider, give them a call. Also, there are several other sources including http://www.kitchenstuff.com/items.asp?Cc=HS1077, and local plumbing supply houses. J.

All four of mine did this.I glued it with a good quality super glue (don't get any inside or it won't fit back on)
Then I wrapped it many, many times with fishing string.Glue the end of the string after you cut it.Make sure that it holds. Then using alot of the super glue,spread/smear it all over the string. Its almost like fiberglass.Let it dry up real good over night. The first one I did almost 6 years ago and still holding. It's a lot guicker and easier then it sounds.
