Color splotch when TV is powered on, then TV powers down automatically

When powering on the TV, there is a color splotch that is in the lower middle and goes to middle of screen. After a few seconds the screen turns pinkish and a second later there is a flash of color in the middle of the screen then the TV automatically powers off.

Good Day;
It is very common for this model from what you spoke. If you handy return to me, Big Irish, and I will continue to help you.

99.9 % of the time of what you stated it sounds like a shorted CRT, picture tube. I have seen hundreds.
First, call the manufacture and complain about your concern and ask them for a CONCESSION because your tube has gone out.
2.If that does not work ; call a factory authorized service dealer to confirm problem and get an estimate, then return ti #1.
Good Luck, Day, Big Irish. I hope I helped.

What the voltage value of zener diodes? (D825, D826 red, red, gray) and D823 (red, yellow).

This table is the information used by MOST diode manufacturers that use color banding on diodes. Most manufacturers stamp the ID right on the diode but some do use color banding as the method of identification. For purposes of alignment, the side with any color band closest to either side of the diode is the equivalent of the left side of this table. The three examples in the table when associated with the values in the lower table, are identified as 1N64E for the top diode, 1N452G for the middle diode and 1N4762 for the bottom diode.

My Samsung HLP-4667W DLP TV has no picture when I turn it on.

The color wheel can be ruled out by looking at it---it faces the lamp and can be seen---look to see if any segments of the wheel are missing or if the wheel is totally shattered.

Other than the wheel I am concerned by "blue splotches etc" as it might be a DMD gone bad. Look at the attached photo and the color wheel first.

According to the description, the color wheel went out. Loud humming noise, color distortion. I got a color wheel and first, by mistake opened the back of the screen, tilted it out a little way and...

did you install the correct color wheel? Most of the samsungs had retooled bearings in some color wheels and often a jumper has to be installed for the color wheel to work properly. Your wheel should be a BP96-01103A another thing that can happen is the thin brown ribbon cable can get plugged in backwards and will prevent the color wheel from working also. That ribbon only has contacts on one side of the ribbon. I would double check that if the correct color wheel was received for your model.

In the middle of watching tv, the screen just turned blue. We went to change the channel and as soon as we did, it turned blue. It doesn't have sound either.

Blue color production circuit is fine. Red and green color circuit not getting power, the same power also goes to sound unit. if that is rectified, issue would be resolved.

Purple lines scrolling, green in the middle, blinking on and off

Time for a new TV... Unless your really really really attached to that TV your going to spend more money on it then its worth to try and troubleshoot and repair it. Most of the TV's that come across my bench for repair that have developed lines and color splotches go into the recycling dumpster, they just aren't worth the time to repair as it usually comes down to a bad board or components that just can't be obtained to repair it. What most people don't realize is that once a tv is a couple years old there just isn't service parts for them anymore. The manufacturer keeps parts available until the warranty period is up on a model then its done for.

HLN5065W picture turns black and white and shuts down

Sounds like your color wheel may be at fault. Do you ever hear any unusual noises coming from the rear of the TV? Color Wheels usually make a humming sound as they go bad. This is because the tiny bearings in the color wheel motor have begun to misshape from use and heat. This is a known issue in this TV! Expect to spend $300-500 to have this serviced by a service company. If you have the right stuff, you can do it yourself. If you search the web, you'll find a color wheel for this TV for under $100, but installation can be tricky.

Power

Unfortunately it sounds like your problem is down to failure on the DTV main board, this is a common problem.
