The dryer should not be pushed all the way against the wall. For the ventilation to properly work, you should leave about a one foot space between the back of the dryer and the wall. Using 90 degree elbows on the dryer and wall can also eliminate crimping. Also, it is strongly recommended that use use the semi-rigid metal type vent hose ducting. It is not that expensive and comes in adjustable lengths. The semi-rigid ducting is recommended by most builders and it resists crimping and rodent damage. If you continue to use a dryer with the exhaust vent clogged it will lead to eventual heating circuit failure due to overheating. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. NOTE: If you purchase semi-rigid ducting, make sure you purchased the hose clamps that go with it. This will prevent the hose from slipping off the connection points.

Good to see you again. The outlet on the back of the dryer is 4" and the wall duct has a 4" tail. The ducting flexible hose made to fit on the outside of both. You fix with large hose clamps. It sound like you are trying to put the dryer into the wall duct? That is not the right way. You have to have hose even if it is 10" worth, that has 4" inside diameter for both the dryer and the wall duct. The new magnetic connector make thing very easy.

Estate electric dryer shuts off after 15 minutes or so and will start up again when button is pushed. Any idea on what the problem is?
Motor getting hot. Maybe dissemble and clean out vent around blower and also in the wall. Run dryer for a load or 2 without the vent hose on. If it does not shut off then clean out your vent in the wall. If it does shut off you may have to inspect the vent inside the dryer to see if clogged. If not clogged bad motor.

I recently purchased a Danby Premiere 13000 btu portable air conditioner. I live in a condo with swing out windows. What are my options for venting (short of returning the unit for a refund or replacing...
John, unfortunately, you don't have many options, short of putting a hole in an exterior wall and putting an exhaust pipe with a cap (like a dryer vent has) and connecting the exhaust hose to it. OR if you have a clothes dryer in your condo and it's vented to the outside. You could temporarily disconnect the dryer's vent hose and connect the A/C's vent hose to the the dryer's outside vent.

Either way, it may be to much of a hassle . But, I'll let you decide that. I guess it will all depend on how hot your condo gets without A/C.

Dryer is getting too hot. Otherwise dryer works great. Bought in 1987. Wife prefers for me to fix this one.
the first thing you should do is to check your vent to make sure it is not crimped up or stopped up. check the inside of the house behind the dryer and check the vent on the outside of the house. this is the most common problem. make sure you are not trying to push the dryer up against the wall too far crimping the vent pipe. don't use plastic hose.

if this is not your problem, then you may have a blockage on the inside of the dryer or you may have a fan problem. lastly if all of the above are all ok then you could have a thermostat failure.

Dryer heats for 10 minutes and turns off
Turn the dryer on, go out to the where the vent exits the house. Feel the air coming out, and it should blow very strong, and for the total diameter of the discharge. If it doesn't, the vent pipe is plugged, or the connection hose from wall to dryer is crimped/collapsed when pushed back to the wall.

Also make sure lint filter is clean, and the grill inside the dryer where hot air enters is clear.

forget temp ck..first ck air flow at rear of dryer be sure strong air flow present if not remove back ..remove 4 screws holding blower housing to inside wall remove the 2 screws under lint screen on top ..clean blower housing if housing clear ck vent line all the way to end outside for restrictions ..reinstall line to dryer be sure not to crimp or flatten hose when pushing dryer back to wall ...quick ck dry a load with rear vent hose disconnected if cks ok definite vent restriction

How do you fit a dryer vent that has to go through the wall?
Unfortunatly you'll need to either knock, hammer and chisel, or drill, using a core drill, which you can hire from a tool hire shop, a hole through the wall. Then connect up the dryer hose to a vent kit which will fit in the hole in the wall.
You can buy the vent kits from most DIY shops and electrical shops (they don't cost much). This is the best way.
Alternatetivly you can buy a special filter box that the dryer hose fits into. This is best if the dryer isn't next to an outside wall. Again most DIY shops and electrical shops sell these.

ck vent againalso be sure dryer is not pushed back too far crimping vent hose..to double ck leave rear vent hose off and dry a load ..may be some lint and moisture in house but if dryes in mormal time will confirm vent problem ..vent may only be partially blocked also look for hole in vent hose or better yet replace entire vent hose

Your vent hose is crimped or clogged. Take hose off and see if air is coming out. Bet your dryer has been push against the wall and crimped the hose. This is the problem 8 out 10 time but if it isnt let me know. There is more tricks.
