GE Profile Still Heating with nothing selected

GE Profile Radiant Range - ran the self cleaing, door locked, opened the door, now the element keeps heating (with nothing selected). Any ideas? Heat is not up to cleaning temp, but is hot.

I had to turn off the breaker to reset the cleaning evolution, after many hours of door locked. Seems the heating element never turned off completely, and it is still running. The oven does not show anything selected.

Yes, this is digital. Has knobs for the radiant burners, but for the oven it is digital. I will check the board. Thanks. Dave

If it is the board, is it difficult to replace, or should I call a repair company?

  • DDallas Jun 15, 2008

I tried to just set the temp and start the oven but we got a LOUD POP, so I turned it off at the breaker.

OK, I have the same problem with my oven heating even though it's turned off. This started after normal use, not the self-clean. My model is a GE JKP56BD1BB double oven built-in range. Only the bottom oven heats, the bottom oven is off.

I have replaced the oven control (and yes it is expensive) and the top oven continues to heat continuously.

What's next? These parts are expensive.

OK, the problem turned out to be the bake element. It melted where the wire plugs onto the lead and then shorted out so the element was always hot.

"door" appears when selecting bake or broil.

First take the door latch lever and push it to the left with moderate force. This may re-align the switches inside. If that does not correct the problem replace the door latch switch.

Self-clean not cleaning

I was wrong (I think).  the baking element probably was burnt out as the repairman said.  He replaced it and I thought selfclean still wasn't working.  In fact, I think I just had to give the self-clean function more time.  Also, I was judging by smell.  We have become used to a bad odor during self clean which was missing when it was broken and still missing after the repair.  Bottom line, the oven was clean after the baking element was replaced, sans smell.

DCS gas oven locked

I let the door stay open, hold the switch closed with my finger, activated self clean. Let it run for a minute then hit cancel, the stove heating element shut off and the locked door blinked for 5 seconds then finally stopped. Back to normal.

Oven wont turn on.

I tried several times to get my oven to work and nothing seemed to help. After downloading the manual from this site, my husband locked and unlocked the oven door several times very hard and it knocked something in place and now my oven works. I hope it works for you.
