Check the ribbons. If your CD image is still on the color ribbon your print head is probably bad. If the image is on the transfer ribbon replace the heat roller.
you can i have install it everytime or just copy the disc to your computer make a folder in your my pictures folder on the pc and call the folder print shop images. Then just copy all the files from the disc to there
Your drive is most likely dead - sorry. DVD burners are not the hardiest of technologies and frequently die with enough use. Thankfully they are usually only $30 to $50 to replace with an non-hp OEM drive. These can be found at smaller computer stores, rather than places like BestBuy
However, most of these drives won't have lightscribe, so you will lose that functionality.
Of course, you can replace the drive with another lightscribe drive from HP, but that will cost you a lot more usually.
Good Luck!
I don't know this machine as such but I just looked at the manual and perhaps I should have put my glasses on but I did not see that you can print on or from a CD, compact disc (~5.25 inches in diameter). If you meant to say that you could not print from a compact flash memory card, small rectangular device about an inch in L/W and 3/16 thick, then you might not have the correct file type on there. You need to have jpg images on there not RAW or edited images with a non jpg format. Is the message really saying there is no disc or there are no photos in memory card? No photos could mean that it is empty or the wrong format.
You can download a user's manual from Canon if you need one.
just go to control panel, add remove programs, select print shop (change) and select modify it will allow you to change content to hard drive and not cd.
