SOURCE: ge after replace fan still fan not working

Something to check for. Is the top of the refrigerator door lower than the freezer door? If so the ref. light may not be turning off all the time. Pull bottom panel off to expose hinges. The ref hinge should have an adjuster. Adjust door up to be level with freezer.

SOURCE: SIDE BY SIDE Frig & freezer

hurlsdad.

Sounds like a noisy evaporator fan. Take the shelves out ot the freezer then take the panels on the back wall of the freezer off. The fan will be there. Then you will know for sure thats the source of the noise. When it is time to replace it...easy fix. (few screws) Here is an excellent source for the part..www.repairclinic.com. My favorite place for appliance parts.

hope this is helpful,

SOURCE: GE side by side refrigerator. Fridge side not cooling - help!

Hi, they have changed lots of parts, were they defected, did they tested parts for faults or they just change parts, because it's available, there's always a reason why a certain part, go bad. so far you change most of parts in ref. check refrigerant (gas, freon) pressure, check compressor, for faulty suction and high side valve, it's possible your compressor loosing efficiency. or say if compressor normally pump 50 psi. now it's pumping 40 psi. is the refrigeration cycle balance ? is there restriction in your ref. system? is compressor running long enough? plug on ref. let it run for 1hr, listen to compressor for any clicking sound, fans and everything else could be working, be compressor not, compressor could be short cycling (not working long enough) also check voltage in receptacle(outlet) with digital multi-tester, get accurate voltage reading, let me know, could also be a faulty circuit breaker in house (building) not your ref. let me know, system could have very slow refrigerant leak, you could have a very small (slow) gas leak, that's why your refrigerator get hot first, then your freezer, there's a condensate line (loop) that passes through, ref body, close to doors to prevent door gasket from freezing, after few years sometimes develope leaks, cause by rusting. it's very possible there could be small leak in your system. let me know what happened.good luck.

SOURCE: frost buildup inside freezer door at ice dispenser

you are still not getting a seal on that flap. It sounds as if it may be warped. THe reason the frost and ice is building up is due to the flap not sealing there isn't any other reson for your problem. Good luck on your repairs

Check for a device called a damper in the refrigerator compartment. It controls how much cold air from the freezer is sent to the refrigerator. In my recent experience with a bad damper in a GE side by side, the damper door broke and the refrigerator got too cold. The damper door could be broken or the motor failed and left the door closed. If this happens, the refrigerator compartment will not get enough cold air from the freezer and run warmer than normal. Check the appliance parts web sites for a breakdown of you model. You may find it's a major disassembly to get to the control. What I did was remove the bad part and control the airflow from the freezer with a partial blockage until I got a new part and the time to repair it.

The freezer is working fine and I hear the fan in the freezer working when I open the door, however the refrigerator is not getting enough cold air into it. I place my hand under the vent where the air is...

The "control" on the freezer section is simply a mechanical air valve and controls how much freezer air actually goes into the refrigerator section. No electronics here at all.

So, IF not enough air is coming into the refrigerator, LOWER the setting on the Freezer Control .... mine has letters A B C D E try "B" and see what happens. You should feel an increased air flow at the air vent.

You may have to INCREASE the "Fresh Food Control" control to a HIGHER setting to compinsate for directing more air out out the freezer ... try 6, 7, or 8. This IS an electronic control and controls the ENTIRE refigerator's cold generation.

If this don't work, there is some other problem, like the defrost heater is out and there is lots of ice behind the back freezer wall stopping or reducing the air flow.

Our side by side freezer door opens slightly

That is a common occurrance for side by side refrigerators. Closing the fresh food door is like having your car windows closed and closing the door. You can feel the air pressure on your ears. In the refrigerator, the air passes through the duct and into the freezer pushing the door open. The magnet on the door gasket should keep it closed. But it may be the freezer door needs the hinges adjusted to the door seats better when closed. Take the plastic cover off the top hinge and you can loosen the screws (don't take them out) and adjust the door slightly (so it looks even between both doors) and tighten the screws up. The top of the door should be level with the top of the unit, and the gap between the doors even the whole way down.
